I’ve heard that a C1 is cheaper to run (and insure) than a Corsa, Cleo, Punto ect, plus I don’t want a car EVERYONE else has.
What do you guys and girls think?

As a 1st car I wouldnt recommend getting something new - the insurance will be high (even if its in a low insurance group) cos of the risk.

Personally Ive got nothing against Citroen - I had a Saxo & my Dad would only buy Citroen.

Also I wouldnt get anything thats HDi etc - go for something basic & work your way up as your no claims bonus rises over the years.

Id recommend something like a Clio or Punto which is about 3 years old. It saves on the insurance & they have excellent NCAP (safety) ratings

Not if it's anything like a Saxo. The Saxo was one of the most unsafe cars available apparently. Definately buy diesel though as the car will last longer and sell for more when you get your 2nd motor. How about a Peugeot 207 or 307!? Just an idea.

I can understand fully your desire not to have the same as everyone else. However, I would recommend you refer to the JD Power survey on reliability to see those manufacturers that you should stay clear of. See the Auto Express site for details of the 2006 survey. Citroen produce great designs but the quality can be wanting. Honda Jazz came out top small car but this looks boring, Skoda Fabia was 2nd, I would go for the Toyoyta Yaris (3rd best) its a great little car and you can get many variants of engine and spec.

hey i would seriously recommend u don`t buy a citroen. Very unreliable u will end up paying so much for repairs. Buy something like a corsa or nissan/ toyota just look at reliability index and never buy a rover either. x

I think you should stick to Toyota or Nissan, or Mitsubishi's, those brands are very dependable and last.

Do not buy a French car, you will regret it. Go Japanese.
