Size and shape of bug? Is it moving? If its longer than it is wide and its moving around than its most likely a flea. Your cat needs a bath with flea shampoo and your house needs bombed (not TNT, treated with flea-specific killing mist). If its round and stuck to her back its most likely a tick. Light a match, blow it out, then stick the still hot tip of the match to the head of the tick. It will kill the tick and cause the legs to release. Use a pair of tweezers to ease the body and legs off the cat. Do NOT pull the body off the legs. Check the rest of her for more ticks and remove in the same manner.
She likely got either of these critter from outside the house. Buy her a flea collar or use monthly treatments to prevent further attacks.

Most likely its a flea, use some Frontline flea protection (you can get it at the vets) Unfortunetly it could also be a tick wich are dangerous, my dog almost died from them. Use some Vasseline and rub ia big glob on the bug, if you can pick it up easily off the dog after a couple seconds under the vaseline it is a tick.

It could be a flea (or a tick) depending on where your cat hangs out. Go to Petco/Petsmart and get something for it. Be careful though - anything that kills fleas can be very poisonous - just don't over do it especially since it's a kitten. Have someone there help you with what to do.

okay right now you kitten is prbably covered in parisites and its probably a good thing to take it to the vet. That small black bugs probabley a sand tic or a wood tick how you can tell the differacne is the sand tic is way lighter than the wood tic. You should go to a near by supercenter and get skin & coat shampoo for cats and kittins, it also contains hairball prevention aid and it only $3.88. Well i really hope you kittin gets better.GOOD LUCK!!!!

Is it a flea or is it a tick? If its a tick and its burrowed its way into your kitten then you have to pull the tick out with some tweezers. When you get the tick out flush it down the toilet. They are very hard to kill. If its a flea get your kitten a flea collar.

Sounds like a tick to me. They can be tricky to get out. You can try with tweezers if you can keep the kitten from wriggling too much. You do not want to pull straight out, pull to the side. You need to get the head along with the body.
Ticks can carry infections and not necessarily. The Amber Child got one on her chin about a month ago and I didn't get the head out. It is not there now and she did not get an infection.

Sounds like the little dear has Fleas...if they are flat and jump, they are fleas. Take the time to go to your local vet and get the proper meds and home-treament for your pet. Yes, you will need to treat your home...those fleas lay eggs and they lay in the thousands and hatch within days.

Sounds like she has fleas. Take her to the vet and if she is old enough they will give you Advantage. Great stuff. Don't let your kitty outside and she won't get them anymore :)
