Get them used to the cat carrier that you'll be using, add a soft blanket and a t-shirt that you've worn for the scent. Let them sleep in it with the door open for a month before you travel, put cat treats such as dried fish in there. If they're not stressed in the basket it'll be easier for them.

Don't medicate; cats react very badly to many standard medicines. For example Valium sedates humans and dogs but excites cats.

Stuff half a travel sickness pill in a lump of soft cheese and feed it to the cat(s) an hour before travelling. If the pill is in the middle of the cheese the cat won't smell it. Also it means the cat(s) won't be travelling on a full stomach.

Safely? Call the vet and ask for a sedative. Cats systems can NOT tolerate many medications, therefore, nothing OTC will work.

with out drugs or anything like that, probably play with them a lot right before the trip. use the string toy and make them run around a lot and chase it and jump for it and then they will want to take a nap.

Yeah- get em all fired up on catnip and run em around like crazy before you go.They will crash pretty hard. Are they due for any shots- I find my cats are very mellow after a few vaccines.

This may sound kooky, but lavendar oil has a calming effect if you put it around the outside of the carrier (where they can't lick it). Playing soothing music can help too - anything to try and keep them calm.

You have to take it to the vet and he will give you something. Don't try and give the kitty something on your own because it all depends on age and weight. You could over medicate it and kill it :(

Bash him on the head with a large mallet or get him drunk or give him a large reefer.

Here is one website that has herbal "travel calmers" for cats.

I just did a search for "natural pet care".

Good luck!
