Do some research. Get in with her friends. Talk to her for a few months online. When she starts IMing you first, you're in the money. Then, kind of pop the question "do you like me?" Depending on her answer, you may go from there. This plan will save the possibilty of rejection.

Never ask a girl out. Simply give her a window of opportunity to participate in something you ALREADY DOING.
Asking implies that you need her approval/blessing which is always the wrong way to start a relationship.
She wants to follow an active and exciting man...not be with a supplicating wuss.

If you really like her ask her out. If you wait you may lose your chance, you never know what's going to happen tomorrow. The worst thing that can happen is that she will say no. The longer you like her the more that will hurt, and if she says yes, the sooner you could be happy. Don't let it turn into a "If only."
