My kitten will meow constantly when no one is in the room with her. Is this normal for kittens?

I agree with most of these posts. Try give her toys to play with, a shirt or something else that smells like you to sleep on, talk to her to let her know you are there (which will either quiet her or make her meow more, depending on WHY she's doing this in the first place), and if you can, get her a playmate.

These are all things we do at the shelter I volunteer at. We put towels/blankets and toys in their cages. When they call out to us, we talk to them and if we aren't doing anything with our hands at that moment, go and play with them for a while. Sometimes we have kittens that we raise from the time their eyes are closed (you didn't say how old your kitten is) and they will constantly meow because they are looking for their mom or because they are hungry.

Just some things to think about. Good luck!

it is normal for a kitten to cry non stop, play with the kitten, make the kitten feel at home. give the kitten a small bowl of milk, make sure that the kitten does not do anything to harm itself or harm others. my advice is to play with the kitten a lot.

I know something that might help. She's crying because she's alone and frightened....take an article of clothing that you've worn all day, like your shirt, and put it in a box for her to lay on. And no, don't use your underwear...you want to help her, not kill her! ha! Anyway, the familiar scent of her owner will be with her all day long and help bring comfort to her. Otherwise, get her some cool cat toys to play with! And remember, before you know it, she will be older and not care if you're around or not...you now how cats are!

your kitty wasn't fully weened from the mother. you got it too soon.

well, obviously it is lonely, it doesn't want to be left alone.

either you can keep it in a carrier or a nice big pocket, and take it with you, or you can just ignore it. Its cruel - but you don't have any other choice. a stuffed animal may not be enough, since it doesn't radiate any heat. Like you or the mommy.

Eventually it will grow older and meow less.

good luck

If you just got the kitten from it's mom it maybe upset because she isn't used to her new home. Or it could be that she just wants attention. My youngest kitty (in the Icon) cry-ed allot for the first few days that I had her. But she slowly got used to things.

I have a cat that does that too. I don't know why. He is perfectly healthy- he sees the doctor more regularly than I do. He probably just likes to hear himself talk. As long as you have been to the doctor and he is healthy I would not worry about it. Make sure she has lots of toys and leave a dirty tshirt that smells like you where she can cuddle with it.

Its not normal but so many people insist on breeding from a line of street urchin cats that there are bound to be genitic mishaps. It sounds like separation anxiety that you could try a drop of rescue remedy when you leave and try leaving the radio on for her

Does she meow when your there ?? If she stops when your around then it just means she is missing you. I suggest when you go out to turn on the tv or radio low so she will have something to listen to. That might help.

It is separation anxiety. If you need to leave the kitten alone, leave something that smells like you, an old shirt or a pillow.

talk to her she is probably lonely. if you have the time, space and money for a second kitten maybe you should think about getting her a friend.
