Honestly, I don't think so.
Let me clarify. The closest technology we have right now is magnetic travel. A few high-speed trains are in use in Europe/Asia that use polar magnetic forces to move... but as far as "flying cars" go ... there's nothing that I know of that is 1. stable enough to operate easily and 2. cheap enough for the average person to have.
Flying cars may be created sometime in the next 50 years, but I seriously doubt that any of us will own one. They'll be far too expensive.
Think about it... we're still running cars with single-combustion engines. Though they've advanced over time... we've had the same type of travel for close to 100 years! I don't see any further advances coming anytime soon.

Let us pray that we don't.
Think about all the idiots out there driving now that almost hit you and the ones that do. They can't handle driving in 2 dimensions, how are they going to handle 3 dimensional driving?
Then what happens when you have a wreck between 500 feet and 5,000 feet off the ground. Airbags will be of no use.
Can you see grandma? She can barely see over the dash of her regular car, and now she's driving a flying car. No Thanks.
If you want to fly, get a pilot license and a Cessna. :-)

I thought we would have had flying cars by now. When I used to watch "The Jetsons" the year 2000 seemed so far away that I was sure that was what life was going to be like. Bummer!
Another thing I want is transporters like in Star Trek.

They already exist. I read in popular mechanics about a 3 passenger car that hovers like a helicopter and can take off vertically and reaches speeds of 500 MPH. It has 3 on board computers that control its flight. It gets 15 MPG and has a range of 300 miles. It can be parked in your garage and costs a 1/4 mil.

Not in our lifetimes. We don't have the infrastructure to have those safely (imagine a tipsy driver crashing through someone's roof).
