i never noticed untill today that i only give out my change to bums that are girls.... do i feel more sorry cause they are girls? does any one else do this or is it just me?

It is perfectly alright. What is more important is that you want to help. It doesn't matter if you feel more for girls and it doesn't matter how and where they are gonna use it for. Bottom line is, you do it out of the goodness of your heart. Some people are too self involve to even notice other people around them.
I'm sure you have helped those girls. Continue what you are doing as long it feels good inside. Remember good deeds done with no intention of being recognize is admirable. You do have a good heart

hehehe, well, how often do you actually see a female bum. I mean, for the most part it's usually men stading at the corner with a sign, not women. So i guess it's like such a rare thing to see a female bum, that you actually do believe that they will use the money for a good cause and not just for beer and drugs which is what majority of those people spend their money on.
unfortunately, all bums generally use the money for the same bad thing, whether they're male or female.

My friend made a good living as a bum in NYC. She never let her weight exceed 99lbs she was obsessive about it. She worked in the subways just siting on the ground with a sign that said hungry. She would often make 100 plus dollars a day tax and sweat free. She was also a heroin addict. And received a check for that. She was not my friend for very long. She made me angry at her laziness and apathy. I help people the ones I see digging through trash for food and those I see collecting cans and bottles. The ones that stand or sit with a cup and a sign I pass on by.

Yea, i may be guilty of giving my money to female bums mostly. I just think that they would need it more in case they have kids and stuff. Also, it would be easier for the guys to get by. I don't think you're wrong, giving is good but the guys are just as unfortunate as the girls.

I feel for the homeless , mainly the mentally ill who can not help themselves ; and families with kids. A lot of the rest are able bodied and should care more about making a living instead of getting up enough change for the next hit or booze . Maybe you are just coming across more girls than guys . I see more male homeless on the average .

I don't think it's necessarily wrong to give to only girls - could be you find them less threatening so you are less afraid to get close to them. But bear in mind girls can be just as desperate, drugged up, violent, and they can use weapons too. I can tell you a true story if you want.
Personally I advocate never giving money to anyone on the street - I give food, blankets, stuff like that. Some cities and shelters give food coupons or referral cards to places with beds, showers, etc.

It's wrong to give any bums money. Give your money to a charity that helps people who help themselves. Giving money to a bum is rewarding bad behavior.
I have seen bums buying lottery tickets, smokes, booze, and other non-essential items with the money they collect. You are not helping them with cash. Give the money to a soup kitchen, food bank, or shelter.
