Well I wash my hair every other day because it is real drying on hair to wash it every day and after I was I always put a product in my hair called silk therapy you get at beauty salons then I blow dry my hair the silk protects it from heat I do not use a flat iron because I have real long straight hair anyway so the blow dryer works for me but no it will not damage your hair.

i use a straightening iron regularly, but not on a daily basis.
It does damage your hair if you do not protect it. If you use serums or other hair oils to protect from heat or uv rays this will help.
I found one Iron that does not damage your hair as much, since you apply the heat very little. Its the CHI IRON its powerful so you dont have to keep going over the same area to get the best results.
I have curlye hari and i love to wear it straight, so sometimes what I do is, wash may hair, lets say on Monday night, straighten it on tuesday morning and wear it straight till about thursday (as long as I had not been out side for long periods of time that would make my hair smell). and then wear it curlye again.
we have the option and that is sooo cool!

I used to blowdry my hair everyday, and my hair was really dry. I haven't done it in a very long time, and my hair is very healthy now, so I no longer use a blowdryer. I very rarely use a hair iron. Only if I'm going somewhere special, as a hair iron will dry out your hair as well. Anything in moderation is the key. Not everyday.

It' not a myth!!! I don't dry my hair everyday. I have very thick hair and it takes a half hour to dry and straiten. I dry it maybe two times a week. I use a product called Glass by Redken. It makes my hair smooth and shinny...not frizzy. It's the only product I have found that works great on my hair. If you blow dry your hair everyday you will damage and dry out your hair. Your hair has natural oils in it that keep your hair healthy. My advice to you is to blow dry it every other day or every third day. Good luck to ya. gigi

I used to blowdry my hair everyday because I have thin hair....it used to give it more body. I stopped blowdrying because it damaged my hair ALOT. Since then, I have been using a different type of shampoo (Sunsilk) and towel-drying my hair and letting the rest dry on its own. My hair has never looked healthier.

i shampoo and dry everyday! There are products out there that you can put on your hair to protect it from the iron, ask your local salon or look in the grocery store, I also use a straightner everyday, just make sure you trim your hair once to every two months, only about an inch and you will have no worries.

you are soooooo on the right path with your thinking...:) i used to blow dry my hair daily and it really dried out my hair to. no conditioner could stop it from later on becomming frizzy. i have stopped about 6 months ago, trimmed the ends, condition it when needed and my hair looks very young and healthy. ironing your hair too can create a later damaging effect. i tried for about a year. sure, it looked great, but i noticed that i was conditioning much more too...and later, i had the frizz troubles from it. just stay the way you are....i am sure that you look great, and who knows, maybe you'll start that "Natural" look trend and pass it on.
the damages we do now will creep on us eventually. hope i have helped

when blow drying...get it mostly dry before you start to style it. towel dry to get as much moister out as u can like this, then let it air dry most of the way (without combing or brushing much is best), or use the dryer at a lower heat setting till mostly dry...then, you style with brush. after dry touch up with the hot iron.
you can also dry your hair with the dryer at a lower setting then use hair iron!
be sure to use a conditioner when you shampoo, if your hair is dry try a "leave in conditioner."
take care!!!
