Not too bad. I don't remember it much since my first day took place 8 years ago (wow, it's been that long).

1) It's a little scary at first

With all the measures your school takes to orient you, you are never ready. You have a huge building, all the upperclassmen are bigger than you, it's loud, crowded and overall a new experience. In my case I was one of I think eight who went to my high school (other 200 went to another high school), so you may not know anyone.

My school just had a half day for the Freshman (all other 3 classes went in the morning) but still, it's a whole different ballgame.

2) Advice

You will probably have some anxiety. Not really so much fear but excitement and feeling daunted at the road ahead.

If you get lost, ask someone where things are. They usually have all the staff littered around everywhere for this reason. All the Senior prank stuff is BS. Nothing ever happened to me.

If you have friends, stay with them throughout the beginning. They are you only link to what you were comfortable with (middle school) and are a leg of support. Although I can guarantee you, you middle school (junior high) friends will probably change as you will too.

Overall, just have fun in high school. Its 4 years that will change your life.

My first day ever of high school was great, awesome, perfect. It couldnt of been better. I found my friends at lunch and didnt have a problem finding a seat. I did get lost a lot. That is so weird. How on the first day I got completely lost even though my classes werent that hard to find. Anyways, after that everything went downhill. The first couple of months I had a lot of "embarrasing moments." One of them includes the classic "leaving the tags on the new pair of clothes/jeans" thing. I cant believe I didnt know about it until lunch time!!!

I loved it!! It was the Fall of 1965. The Beatles were still at a fever pitch, school sports were HUGE, I was going to one of the "10 Grooviest High Schools" in the country,(it was listed this way in a magazine), it was the alma mater of my 2 siblings, older neighbors,Forrest Tucker,Warren Beatty,Shirley MacLaine, and much later..Sandra Bullock. I was on cloud nine! I was in the marching band and we had a football game that Friday...I could hardly wait. We'd all go to the Hot Shoppes afterwards. Boy! I loved every minute of it. Back then, senior high school was grades 10-12. I hope you have a wonderful time. Remember, you are making memories for yourself...make them GOOD ones.

Not bad, I had a lot of friends that were seniors. I can't remember the specifics, though. That was a while ago.

fine, the whole 'getting shoved into lockers' stereotype is just that, as stereotype and should not be takin' literally. for me, it was the first day of the rest of my life
