Don't opt to go the cheap route by getting over the counter wormers: they don't work and you will end up spending more money by purchasing them, then still having to go to the veterinarian. I am a little confused why you would need to ask this question. See, there are professionals called "animal doctors" and your cat desperately needs to see one. Otherwise, he will end up fatally ill. If you don't have the money to take your pet to a vet, you have no business owning a cat. A vet trip simply is a necessary responsibilty to be a pet owner. Get your cat to the doctor immediately!!! Sometimes, if you call around and stress that you are low on cash, the clinic will let you describe the worms over the phone and will diagnose the problem and let you pick up meds without an exam. The exam is what really ends up costing you. If you have a cat that goes outside, you honestly need to think about getting his shots up to date and taking him to the doctor regularly. If you can't provide these things, perhaps you need to think about giving your cat a home with a person who will provide these things for him.

If you have a regular vet call and ask if you can take in a poop sample so that they can test it and find out what kind of worms you are dealing with and give you the proper medication.

If you don't have a regular vet, then get one.

I am not a big fan of over the counter medications that you get at pet stores for some problems which is why I suggest the vet.

Worms are easily treatable and your kitty will be fine.

Good luck

Your cat may have worms. You need to take it to the vet. The cost will depend upon where you live and the treatment the vet recommends for your cat.

In N.E. Ohio where I live, a visit (just and examination, no shots, etc) is about $50.

Please take your cat. The treatment may not be too expensive and the quality of life for your cat will be so much better.

Your cat is not in any immediate danger unless you and the cat have been open mouth kissing. It's just a regular case of worms which will corrected by your vet or animal clinic. The cost is not enough to put you in the poor house but realize that pets cost money which is why I don't have one!

You need to bring his poop to the vet to get tested. In the future you should use Revolution to prevent worms if that is what it turns out to be. It also protects from fleas and ticks and costs about $50 for a 3 month supply.

Sounds like worms. Possible to get worm medication at pet store but you should really take the cat to the vet.

i would take the cat to the vet. It could cost 50 bucks to a few hundred depending on what they find out. Call the vet and ask how much it is for the dr to see the cat.

Your cat likly has tapeworms (can get them from being bitten by a flea or by eating mice, rats, etc.). What you are seeing is the segments that break of.
There is a pill you can get from the vets that will kill the ones your cat has now. Either Cestex or Praziquantel. Wormers you buy at pet stores or over the counter will usualy only treat round and hook worms, so get something from your vet.

It sounds like tape worms and you will have to get the meds from the vet. Take a stool sample and they should allow you to have the meds. Be sure that the other pets in the house get a fecal done also.
