Price for price.. Maxtor provides some great products. I've used the One Touch series for smaller networks I've installed and it works great. It connects with either a firewire or USB. Though firewire provides a faster transfer rate than USB (unless you are using a USB 2.0).

500 gb is good look on the internet do a search put in the search box external hard drive and take a look about the websites then if if buy one all you have to do is set it up

dont know, but if looking to protect your info on your harddrive in case it breaks, check out setting up RAID, its set up in such a way very easily so that everything you save on your harddrive it will copy the same exzact stuff to your 2nd harddrive so if 1 harddrive breaks, you still have the other one to use that has the same exzact info pics whatever on it. of course youll need another hard drive. Its called RAID 1 or mirroring
