My dog was hit by a car last night around 9 p.m. and walked away from it. She's a pit bull around 1 1/2 years old. She played last night and she was walking fine this morning at 7 am, but when i checked on her at around 11 am she was limping and did not want to move. I let her inside so i could monitor her and if she moves around for a while she will walk on it, but if she lays down for 10 minutes plus, she will get up limping. Is anything broken or does it sound like a bruised or sprained paw. Also is there anything OTC i could give her for the time being until i can take her 2 the vet?

You could try a low dosage of baby aspirin. Don't give her tylenol or anything with acetaminiphen, that causes liver damage. Get her to the vet, and ask the vet when you call for an appointment what dosage of baby aspirin you should give her. Good luck!

call the vet, they have free 24 hour on call assistance. if its a $ issue you can even ask them if they will work with you while you have them on the phone, but call now and go when you can.

stay away from the tylenol for now. stay away from OTC medicines as well. some dogs are allergic, just like humans and you could kill her.

best bet, call the professionals, they will help.

think you better get the poor dog to the vets, most vets have a emergency service availiable for such cases.
could have internal bleeding or could have a fracture of some sort the longer you leave it the more damage will be caused.

Oh take the poor animal to the vet already..and whatever you do ..DO NOT GIVE TYLENOL!!! If you do not have the money for a vet you can call the local SPCA and they can refer you to an agency that will help.

you should have taken her to the vet immediately, even if she did walk away from it. Dogs have a much different pain tolerance than humans and you are not likely to know something is wrong until it is REALLY bad. you need to contact your vet and tehy can possibly recommend something to give.
