Can someone tell me the easiest way to apply for private student loans. I need a loan to help pay for housing since my university doesn't provide it to all students. I obviously want to find the lowest interest rate but am having trouble locating a site that lets me compare them. I have an excellent credit score so I won't need a cosigner. Any information would be useful thanks!

I think you want a private loan to cover the cash requirements needed for your cost of living expenses.

Student loans are only there to cover the costs of education. You must complete a FAFSA and go through your student aid office in order to determine eligibility and loan amount. Then that amount is applied to your semester bill directly (they don't just send you a check). Any amount that you accepted that was over the tuition amount will be refunded to you in the form of a check.

However, if you want a short term private loan you can go to your bank and ask for a line of credit extended on your account to help ends meet if you are short of cash.
