Gallon of water and about 8-10 tea bags. Place bags in water and place in the sunshine -- bring it in when it is dark enough. You can use any flavor / brand you like.

Start off with good tea (I like Luzianne, but Lipton works well too.). In a large pot, bring about 1/2 gallon of water to the boil. Turn off, and add either 4 Family Size tea bags or 12 - 16 regular tea bags to the water. Let it steep for 4 - 6 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.
Fill a one gallon pitcher with ice all the way up. Pour your tea over the ice, add enough water to fill the pitcher up, stir in sugar if you want, and it's done.

Steep 8 tea bags in 1 cup boiling water. After the tea bags have steeped, pour brewed tea into a pitcher of ice cold water leaving enough room for the 1 cup tea. Flavor with lemon and sweetener.

To make 1/2 gallon: Bring 8 cups of water to a boil, add 4-6 teabags (depending how strong you like it) turn off the burner, but let the pot stay on the stove til cool or at least 20 minutes. Remove the teabags, squeeze them out into pot, add 1/4 cup of sugar to the warm tea and stir. Pour into your 1/2 gallon pitcher and add cold water to top. You may like a little more sugar than this, but start with the smaller amount and you can always experiment with more. Enjoy! You can buy different flavored teabags at the grocery store such as raspberry flavored or peach flavored tea bags! Try those for your flavored teas...

If you want the sweetned ice tea, boil a pan of water with 1 1/4 c. sugar. When the water boils and the sugar has melted in add 4 family tea bags and let steep for 5 minutes then pour into a 4 qt. pitcher and add cold water or ice.

All I do is throw about 6-8 lipton tea bags into the top of a coffee pot without a filter and brew it like coffee. Then I take all the ice that I have in the house (2 ice trays full) and put it into a pitcher. Then I add the coffee, top the rest of it off with water and add the desired amount of sugar. Throw it in the fridge if your not going to drink it right away. Enjoy!

You buy the brand of tea the restaurant uses. Brew the hot tea as usual, then chill it down. Serve it over ice.
Ice tea is no different than hot tea, except in how it is served.
If you are making iced tea at home, and it does not taste the same as in the restaurant, then you are using a different kind of tea, or a different brand.
