How do I find aircraft in flight at any given time, such as on CNN news?

On CNN in the morning a guy named `Rally Caparis'?- has a active radar map showing all aircraft in the air at that present time. I listen to the scanner and wanted to see which aircraft I was hearing . Thank you

You can check out http://www.flightaware.com/ They have quite the user-friendly interface and you can check the status on any flight in around North America (Europe and such isn't available...yet).
