How cold should it be?" This is debatable. Most experts lean toward cold water, because the stomach absorbs it more quickly. There is also some evidence that cold water might enhance fat burning.
On the other hand, warmer water is easier to drink in large quantities, and you might drink more of it without even realizing it. Do whatever suits you, here. Just drink it!
When you drink all the water you need, you will very quickly notice a decrease in your appetite, possibly even on the first day! If you're serious about becoming leaner and healthier, drinking water is an absolute must. If you're doing everything else right and still not seeing results, this might just what's missing.

It's only water weight which you lose. Yes, odd, but drinking more water causes you to lose water weight and bloating.
The main reason a person will gain 5-10 pounds of "water weight" over a period of months is because the body feels deprived of the water, and begins to conserve the water along with the fat, causing bloating in fatty areas - specially just under the stomach and the stomach itself.
The commonly approved amount to put as "necessary" in a diet is 64oz of pure water.
However, most people that work out will say that 128oz minimum is necessary to maintain a body thats' well hydrated. Lack of water is one of the main underlying causes of disease - "dis" being not and "ease" being what it is. Basically, if your body doesn't have enough water it starts making all kinds of changes and short cuts to assure itself that in case it receives even LESS water, it will be ok for a few hours or days.
Drinking water helps with: all major skin and hair issues, all major organ issues, and all major psychological and physiological issues.
Drink water!!

Well, the body is made up of 96 per cent water or liquids and the water/losing weight theory is true to an extent but it is overdone. Water drinking alone cannot make you lose weight, ill give you a scenario. If I was to drink five extra glasses of water, but i do no form of excercise and I have two big juicy burgers wiyh every meal, will i lose weight ?

Water is better for your body. It keeps you thoroughly hydrated. It isnt necessarily the water itself, its probably what it replaces.
For example, if everyday you drink 3 sodas, if you were to replace that liquid intake with 3 glasses of water, you wouldnt be drinking all the calories and sugar thats in soda.
Water has absolutley no calories in it, so basically its all the benefits of keeping your body in high working order without any of the downfalls, like uneeded calories and large amounts of sugar, as well as caffiene.
Soda really has no nutritional value.

I think it helps remove toxins from the body and if you are very well hydrated the body does not need to retain water because it knows it will be nourished....for those who retain water, but do not drink plenty of it the body gets mad, it doesn't know when or if it will get water so it hoards it like an old miser.

I never heard that one! I drink at least gallon of water a day, not including other sugar-free products (Crystal light etc.) What you probably mean to ask is why is it that during exercising, racing cars, etc. does your body loose so much water weight?

Elyse is right. Drinking an 8 oz. glass of water 20 mins. before you eat a meal will help you feel full. It tricks your brain. Drinking lots of water also flushes your system of impurities which help with fat loss.

Drinking water will help you control your urges to eat by filling your stomach.
Water is also important for the body to metabolize fat since it requires protein and water to convert fat to energy.
