I am seeing a lot of *yes* replies here, so I guess maybe I'm the odd one. I sleep freaky hours, and very little. Insomnia is awful My doc won't help me, and stuff like Unisom leaves me groggy the next day, which leaves me feeling like I may as well not have taken. Anyway, my reply would be it all depends. I am 5'3" tall and weigh 104.5. I have dealt with this insonia for several years now, and it never made me gain weight....
Just don't over do the food and keep some activity going and you will be fine.

That totally depends on the person and their eating habits when they are tired.
Many will eat high sugar food like candy and soda, for the perceived energy boost, and gain weight. Others lose their appetite and lose weight during these periods.
I fall in the first group and my wife falls in the second.
With the eating plan set up by a nutritionist and help from my wife, I continue to eat normally during these periods. Candy has been replaced by fruits and this keep my weight stable during periods of poor sleep.

Sort of. By being sleep deprived, your body looks to food to recharge itself.
Incidentally - not everyone needs 8 hours of sleep, I personally do best with 10 hours, while my friend can't function if she sleeps more than 5 or 6 hours. Everyone's sleep needs are different.

See fat loss tips on this site to see why that is absolutely correct. Americans over-eat and under-sleep.
