You need to find a home for your cats. I am the boss in my house and I have never hit them. I don't scream at them but I do give them time out in the bathroom when needed. My cats behave just like they're supposed to, like cats.

In all my 42 years of working with animals I don't think I have ever read a more ridiculous justification for being an idiot.

I can only hope that you don't have children, and I bet there's not a man in your life either. Maybe that's part of the problem, frustration leads to crazy behavior.

Find your cats a GOOD home and get yourself a couple of statues of cats. They will behave.

If you think that hitting & screaming at your kids is okay, then you should never have children. If you think that hitting & screaming at your cats is okay, you should never have a pet. I've seen your other posts. Obviously you are looking for someone to justify your actions or you are questioning your actions. Questioning them is a good thing but you won't find justification here except from people who believe being cruel, cold and heartless is a good thing. I don't know how old you are or how you were raised, but I think you should seriously consider anger management therapy. You are so filled with negativity. Girlfriend you are lacking love in your life. Pets can be wonderful in giving you that, but you reap what you sow. If you don't give love, you're never going to get it. I really feel sorry for you and your cats. They don't deserve to be screamed at or spanked. They're cats for Chrissakes! What are you thinking? Try and find some love in your heart and learn how to get what you want with kindness. Here are 2 more quotes for you to add to the other quotes I gave you on cats in your other post:

Mean people suck.
Kill them with kindness.

You could learn a lot from these 2 sayings.

Julie...I am concerned about your methods for what you feel is the best way to discipline your cats. Unfortunately, many of the posters response showed that they understand that any animal including a cat doesn't respond well to spankings and yelling but only reinforcing good behaviour and redirecting bad behaviour. Unfortunately, all animals can never understand why we become angry because they are incapable of reasoning. You've probably noticed anytime you are ready to punish your cats they always run away from you when there's yelling or prepare to spank them. If you corner them do you notice how they curl up in a ball with their ears tacked back, eyes big and squinting? All of this is only fear of you, not what they did. Cats cannot separate the two ideas. They only think they are being punished for being a cat, not the act of wrongdoing. They are reacting out of survival means--fear the bad stuff our human is going to unleash on us. And they don't understand why other than only that you will hurt them. Does this make any sense?

Would you love to learn how to retrain your cats correctly to get them to behave without them having to aggravate you? It can be done and many people have found this new way of positive reinforcement works in their everyday life too at work, with friends, family, etc. I have trained my cats to stay off kitchen counters with positive punishment (it's a strange concept, but it exists) and so much more. I never even had to use a squirt bottle or be anywhere near my cats. They were punished by their own bad actions so it now never happens again.

I will include a website below that describes how positive punishment should be applied in order to get your cats to stop unwanted behaviours. Please re-read a few times as the concepts shows that punishment should be done without you being present (this can be possible).

I truly hope you will consider trying this method as it will get your cats to trust you as well as learn their boundaries/limits. It will take discipline on your part to retrain yourself to effectively succeed. You may enjoy it so much that you'll get your way with your friends with this method too!

First of all you're an idiot for even posting this... and second, yes you are a "big B....h" as you put it. Cats can't understand you when you yell at them, you probably just scare the **** out of them and do you really want that? If that's how you treat children I would never let a child near you. CATS ARE NOT CHILDREN!!! Cats are animals plain and simple, things you would do to get a rowdy child in line is not going to work on your cat and you are stupid for thinking it would. They aren't people, yes you may think of them as loving members of your family like many do but they are not people they are animals and need to be treated accordingly, not cruely just accordingly. Like not spanking them!!!

Cats are animals not humans. They do not understand when you shout, spank them etc. This is very cruel what you are doing and you should never of got a cat if you dont know nothing about them (this is very obvious you dont) You say its the way you would treat a child. No-one should EVER treat a child like that either. You should be banned from having a pet. You sound as though your a really nasty and stuck up person. I cant imagine you having any friends.

It would be a good theory if it were not for physical punishment. Cats cannot learn from being spanked. They will only learn to hate or resent you. You can talk to them sternly but not scream at them. The best way to train them is with love, consistency and patience. Cats do have dominance issues, but you should not feel threatened by this. If you have to use any physical punishment, I would suggest you use a squirt gun - very sparingly. Other than that, perhaps you should consider getting different pet like a dog or none at all.

ok, you got an issue here that i don't like. there is a big difference than treating your cats as pets than as children. if you get respect from your cats for your discipline then it would be like treating them as children. cats are very independent but if taught correctly they will act accordingly and can be so loving. Make sure you give them a little treat later after the sapnking to let them know you love them too. if not then there just pets.

Instead of spanking them - which they do not understand - try a water gun and give them a little squirt when they are doing something that really is bad - like digging in the plants or sitting on the counter.

As far as the yelling - its the same as with kids, it usually backfires. They don't understand your words, just your anger. They respond better to training by praise, rewards for good behaviour. Soon they learn what you expect of them. Like children they need to clearly understand what it is that you want not be in constant fear of upsetting you.

I hope you never have children if this is the way you would treat them too. Children Services would be on you in a heartbeat! It has been proven that people who abuse animals are one step away from abusing children--think about it! There are better ways to disipline cats and CHILDREN!

People like you should never be allowed to have pets, you disgust me and if I knew where you lived I would report you to the RSPCA.

Why keep cats if you cannot keep your temper with them????? You clearly do not love them as they deserve to be loved so what is it? Do you see them as some kind of home decor accessory? Or what?

Please, take your cats to the nearest animal rescue centre before you do them any further harm.
