Call the local police force and ask if they have a web site or if your state has one. You can find sites that claim to show predators by location on a map but when I checked for my town I found that two who are known to be in this neighborhood (according to police and Realtors) are not shown on that map - so be careful.

I am not 100% certain of the website, but I'm sure you could Google it. I've been on it before you they will ask you to type in your address and they will actually provide you with the names of predators anywhere near you...Including any that live on your street. They also provide pics. Regardless, though, be careful because they only have the ones that registered...Anyone who didn't do that will not be in the system.

It looks like there is a national list you can access at http://www.registeredoffenderslist.org/?engine=adwords!3475&keyword=%28sexual+predator+list%29&match_type= but it looks like it costs $10 to register with them to be able to use their services.
I was able to get the list for for free from my state by going to the state's page, in my case www.kansas.gov and following the links. You probably can do that in your state page as well. Good luck!
