Listen to your mom. Hair dye can be very damaging to your hair especially at such a young age. I know alot of girls and boys are dying their hair at your age and it seems like it should be alright. Have you ever looked at a 13 to 15 year old's hair after it has been dyed a few times. It looks horrible! Very dry, lots of split ends, and I will bet alot of it falls out because of the damage to the scalp.
Also, if your hair is naturally dark then you will not be able to dye it dirty blonde without lightening it first. Then it is like you are dying your hair twice in the same day. Not very good for your scalp or your hair.
You have plenty of time to dye your hair when you get older. In the meantime, see if your mom will let you use a color mousse that will wash out in a few shampoos and that doesn't contain any ammonia. Ask her if you can try a few streaks and let her see that it will wash out without damaging your hair. If she still won't let you, then try a new hairstyle if you want to change your look.

First of all there is no such thing as coloring your hair temporarily, the stuff don't come out, especcially if you go from light to dark, so then you are gonna look trashy with it growing out.
Second, I started coloring my hair at 17, I had beautiful thick dark hair, but had to cut it (against my Mom's strong wishes) and color it.
Well, I started going grey early, and have had to color my hair since my early twenties. Now I am 38 and if I don't color my hair every three weeks those greys really show. I wish I would have listened to my Mom and kept my hair beautifully natural and long for as long as I could.
I now have a 15 year old boy and 10 month old girl, they can do whatever they want, after I tell them my opinion (which is usually very liberal) and they have to listen to the mistakes I made, then if the need to make them too, Oh well, done all I can. But trust me. twenty years from now, you will be sounding just like your Mom THEY TRULY DO KNOW BEST, and truly, truly, have your best interest in mind.
Good luck growing up

Honey, you're 13. You're mom rules for now, unfortunately. I, personally do not see a problem with temporarily dying your hair, but if you do it behind your mom's back--you suffer the consequences. I dyed my hair ocasionally when I was your age, so I understand. Important point--if your hair is really as dark as your aviater's then NO, you won't be able to get it dirty blonde with a temporary dye. You have to pull the color out permanently to do that. Hope this helps!

I had the same problem with my mom growing up...All I can tell you is what I did...when I was thirteen I bleached my hair with peroxide, I succesfully turned my hair a weird coppery orange color. Of course, at that age I thought it looked great, but it killed my hair. It took 2 years for ,my hair to recover from that. But the result was, at fifteen my mom took me and got my hair highlighted. She still didn't want me to change the entire color but due to my previous venture she knew I was serious, so she was willing to comprommise. But, be forewarned...I do not know your mother, therefore I donot know how she will react. She just might ground you until you're 20. Just remember when you are 18 or when you move out...you will be the master of your own self...dye your hair green if you want then. Good luck!

Wait a couple of years. You don't need to be colouring your hair at 13. Plus, if you have dark hair and are going to be going dirty blonde, you should get it done in a salon. And that can cost a lot depending on how much work and product it takes. Do not do it at home! Especially with it being your first time.

If your hair is as dark as your avatar's, there is no way for you to temporarily dye it dirty blond. In order for someone with dark hair to dye it a lighter shade they must first bleach it. That is a very, VERY permanent process.
My advice: go to a hair salon that offer high tech consultation. They take a digital photo and then alter it to show you with different hair styles and hair colors. Maybe that will be enough to satisfy your curiosity without raising your mom's blood pressure.

You're too young to dye your hair. I'm 28 and the first time I had my hair dyed I was 21. Wait a few years till you at least get out of high school and into college. You've got plenty of time!! Dying hair is expensive, and you have to continue to do it once you start -- I can see where your mom is coming from.

That you are thirteen years old means a lot. It means you are living under your mother's guardianship, and she pays for your expenses just to survive. If you were to dye your hair without telling her after she told you not to, that would be a deliberate act of disobedience, and the message to your mother would be you will do what you want when and if you want to. That is not a good decision. While you are living with her, you should live with HER rules, whether you like them or not. When you are older and able to support yourself, you can then make all the decisions you want regarding your care.

No you should never defy your mother. I know it is important to you to get your hair color changed but you have your whole life to do that. Thirteen is a little young, why not wait a couple of years, as you grow older your mother will start to give you more liberties. Good luck.

Well, you are only 13 and you should listen to your mom--she knows whats best for you...i let my kids dye their hair--but i am their mom and that's my decision. you should respect your mother, but, your mom also should consider your individuality.....and if you have black hair--your hair is going to turn orange if you try to lighten it on your own!!!! That is something that is too drastic and should be done by a professional--good luck!
