Many have died much more torturous deaths than the crucifixion, for far more trivial issues than the salvation of mankind, right?

And besides, Jesus would KNOW FOR SURE that He would be greeted by his Father on the other side, while we have to rely on Faith. So it must have been easier for Him to die, right?

He's God's freaking Son for Chrissakes!!! He weilds unlimited power! He healed some people. Awed the masses. Wrote the world's best-selling book (by dictation). And He knew as soon as it was over He could get unlimited pleasure in Heaven. So what's the big deal about Him going through one human death experience on Earth?

If God is so much more powerful than us, I would think experiencing one human death, to him, would feel much like a slap on the wrist feels to us. Right? So what's the big deal?

Don't tell me a few thorns would be almost unbearable pain to a Man who could walk on water and heal diseases! If he could make wine out of water, certainly he could anesthetize the pain centers in his brain!

Why didn't he just whip up some morphine and have it mainlined right into his veins? That's probably what He did! Why not? He could make wine out of water, couldn't He?

Couldn't He have still saved us if he had a miraculously-created morphine injection???

Now explain to me why the Almighty Himself would not miraculously anesthetize Himself from excruciating pain.

I have to say that you don't know any thing about Jesus. You cannot distinguish His death as the most horrible death to be experienced by man. You apparently don't know any thing about the Bible, therefore, what I am writing to you will not make any sense to you.
Let me begin with you by opening your mind to receive the true knowledge about Jesus death. When a man dies, if he is for Christ then his death shall pass quickly and normally because of his faith and trust in Jesus, and because the Holy Spirit takes any painful guilt conscious away from him, if not , he shall also die normally like any other man but not like Jesus Christ. The reason man dies is because of his sins, man doesn't die because he gets old and accordingly his body deteriorates and finally he dies. This information is what the world believes in, but the truth why man dies is because he inherited the corrupted body from Adam after he sinned against God and therefore he was prone to death and deterioration. According to the Bible, which I don't think that you either have read or believe in; the law of death entered in after the sin of Adam and was effected immediately after Adam disobeyed God and ate from the tree of Knowledge. God told him (Adam) that the moment you eat from this tree you shall certainly die. The law God decreed against Adam's sin, according to the Bible, which you haven't read is:"The wages of Sin is Death". So because of the sin of man every body dies including animals. God's decree against Adam was: Cursed is the earth because of you,... but when some one like Jesus dies, then there is a complete different idealogy. What sin did Christ commit so that He should die? You don't know of course how Jesus came to the world; wasn't He conceived of the Holy Spirit and without the sperm of man who would give Him the trait of all men, the trait of sin and corrupted body? So Christ died not for His sin, but for the sin of Man, thus He paid for the penalty of mankind sin not His own. The second part of the whole phenomenon of Christ death is that the death of Christ not only accompanied the physical pain, but the spiritual pain that had come upon him during his 6 hours of struggling on the cross. Christ carried the anguish and the pain of all men since the creation of Adam until the last man to be born on the planet. On the cross Christ carried all the sins of human being and He himself became the curse that God put on Adam for his disobedience. Christ died with that Curse spoken by God the Father emboddied into his soul and body. He looked so uggly at the time He gave up the Spirit. The curse of the Father that caused all the conflict of Humanity on the planet was carried with Jesus on the cross, thus liberating mankind from that curse that He took with Him and nailed it with Him on the cross. In that manner Christ death and the pain He carried with Him is unmatched by the pain of any human goes through any sever death situation whatsoever. I hope that has entered into your head to give praise and glory to that man who died your death and carried your penalty and absorbed your curse you inherited from your forefathers.

>>>And besides, Jesus would KNOW FOR SURE that He would be greeted by his Father on the other side, while we have to rely on Faith. So it must have been easier for Him to die, right?<<<

It's not that simple.

Presumably, Jesus knew that things would be all right for Him in the end.

But He also knew that the manner in which He died would be extremely torturous.

This may not be the best analogy, but -- liken it to a hard workout at the gym.

Before you start the workout, you know it will be okay in the end. You know you'll be better for it as a result of completing it.

But you still dread it before you start, don't you? You still don't exactly look forward to it.

Or how about going to the dentist? If you need a root canal, you know that it will all turn out well, and that you'll be healthier from a dental-health standpoint.

But that doesn't mean you're looking forward to the root canal! It doesn't mean that you think the root canal is "no big deal." Because you know that it's not going to be pleasant at all.

How magnified, then, is the idea of being crucified? A lot!

The most sacrifice ever done, Can you imagine all your sins forgiven and eternal life just because you believe? Is not the way Jesus died what is importance, is the give He gives with His Resurrection what matters. If you have been always rich, How do you know how to be poor is if you don't feel it in your own flesh? That's the reason God sent his son to the earth to live and suffer like a human and why we are so important to God. Meanwhile Jesus was on earth his power wasn't as strong as it was in heaven to have a fulfill experience. Besides the last, God bless the ones who believe without seen because the will see the kingdom of God and the 2nd. death will never be seen by them. God help you out and bless you.

It's not the WAY he died, it's is the fact that he was the human sacrifice for your sins. If he would have died by hanging, electric chair or any other manner, his sacrifice would still hold the same power.

Be careful when you diminish what happened on the cross. There is immense power in what God did for you. Jesus knew before the earth was formed that he would come to earth, die, and redeem mankind to Himself. Jesus was in the beginning with God.

The "big deal" is so that we, too can be with Him in paradise.

Any more excuses?

How he died isn't as important as why he died. It has to do with God's sense of justice (eye for an eye thing). At the beginning of humanity (based on Bible teachings, which is what you are arguing against, and so the only one I'll go with), there were the two humans, Adam and Eve, and they were perfect human beings (without sin). But Satan came along and tempted them and both gave in and committed sin (disobeying God, their creator and therefore the rightful person to tell them their purpose in life). This called into question whether anyone could stay faithful to God, and it was currently impossible to answer because the rest of humanity afterwards was imperfect as well (inherited that sin), and was incapable of staying faithful to God (they would eventually screw up, no matter how hard they tried).

So Jesus was sent down to be another perfect human. He had two mission goals on this trip. His first goal was to be the perfect human that could remain faithful to God, and thereby answer Satan's question of whether it was possible for anyone to stay faithful. The second goal was to die to repay the perfect life Adam gave away (the eye for eye thing). Jesus did both, he stayed faithful and he died a perfect life.

You may argue that he knew he'd see his Father after and that takes something away from this death. That may or may not be true, but I would argue that at the beginning of his life (he was supposed to be the first creation ever), he was not supposed to die (no one was at the time) and he wound up having to die an extremely painful death. How would you feel if you went from having the prospect of living the easy life of heaven to having to die, and not only that but rather painfully and know pretty much your whole life that is what you were destined for. Even knowing you'd come out on top in the end may not be enough to go through that for some people.

You have got to be kidding. You are sooooo wrong.

You didn't see Mel's depection in the Passion, did you?
There is/was no more horrible death than the one He suffered.
If you don't like Mel then read it in Matthew 27 or Mark 15.
Besides that, He didn't have to do it. Do you realize there were twelve legions of angels ready to destroy the world?

How can you call the salvation of all mankind trivial?
I can't believe this question.

Yes He was God's son but, during those 33 years, he was fully MAN. Read the scriptures.

Do not trivialize the greatest gift of all time.

You are missing the whole point. Jesus died for EVERYBODY'S sin once and for ALL time. I do not consider that easy. When I die I know that I am going to heaven because I am saved and the Bible assures me of my destiny---I have nothing to worry about. Trivializing the death of Jesus on the cross is not a good thing--it smacks of blasphemy. Reconsider you comments about our Lord's sacrifice. And I also ask you this: would you be willing to do what Jesus did if you were called upon by God to do so? Jesus loves you.

The reason that it is so wonderful for those that would accept it is that He was sinless.
He did absolutely nothing wrong. So he being tortured and killed on the cross for the sins that the people said he committed, was the ultimate sacrifice of all sacrifices for us, for our sins.
Jesus is God but he was also flesh and bone, therefore he felt pain. God did not take away his pain because He was his Son or else what would be the point of all of this? Why should we love Jesus who died for us who didn’t feel anything? So he had to feel it, feel it all. Jesus didn’t deserve to die, or even in the way he did, because he was pure. He took away your sins and mine. If we were simply to acknowledge it and be thankful we would be able to receive the gift that He wants for us to have, heaven. That's why he did all of this anyway.
But you sound like you know what you are saying. So why do you not believe? God loves you and He wants you to love him too.

First of all Jesus did not die on the cross. God made a common criminal with the Jesus and the criminal was crucified.
and have you ever play pass the message with your friends, it starts of with "I love God" and when it gets to the last person the message is "I love dogs" or when you write dictation at school did you get every word down correctly. and Jesus was not the son of God but Yes Jesus was one of Gods messengers that he had sent down to teach us. But every time the message would be altered or the people didn't believe. Then God sent a final message to Muhammad (who could not read or write) and Muhammad wrote down every word the God had told him and the Quran is Gods final message and the Quran is written so that the message is clear for everyone to read and written in a way that it cannot be changed by anyone. The Quran is the most truthful message from God. before you pass on your message to other people make sure you read the Quran. Then come and tell me if you still believe in all you have heard. You never know.

You hit the nail right on the head. There was no real sacrifice on Jesus' part. He even said that he's raise up in 3 days after he was "torn down." He knew what was going to happen. So basically he went through some temporary pain to achieve the highest goal possible. How is that in any way a sacrifice?

Of course, you'd have to believe in all that crazy crap in the bible to give the story any credit anyway.

First if you really want to know, just read the gospel of Jesus Christ I would start in Matthew. What in the world would be more trivial then the salvation of man? It was a little more in depth then what you wrote, the crucifixion of Jesus had allot of symbolic reasoning as well. Since Jesus was killed on the cross we have begun to live in the "Day of Grace". Which allows us to receive forgiveness of our sins through Jesus Christ, because he died. Jesus dieing enabled us to receive forgiveness of our sins through him to God, kinda like a bridge between man and god! I could go on...but just read and you will understand.
