Depends which ones. There are some who believe contraception is wrong. This is, for example, the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church. So anyone who adheres to this type of teaching will obviously not use condoms. Otherwise, it is up to the individual, if they choose to use contraception, whether they use condoms or some other means.

Protestants do (not sure about Catholics). There is no human life killed when using a condom, as the egg and sperm have not joined together to create a baby. We see reproductive cells the same as any other living cell in our body... part of that person alone. A fertilized egg, however, is no longer part of the man or woman, but a new person unto themselves, living symbiotically with the mother.

As a side note to some of the other responders: Christians are free to have sex whenever desired (however, after marriage only, and heterosexual only), and in any position desired (as there is nothing stating *booming voice* 'this is the only way that is allowed, and none other shall ye have').

Hey Mary Jane,

i think in the context of a marriage it would be ok. Those who would oppose would say that it prevents life. But that would imply an idea that the purpose of sex is just for pro-creating. The Psamist speaking to a man concerning his wife- says may her breasts satisfy you. The idea is that God thought it was a good idea in the context of a marriage for couples to be the source of intimate satisfaction for one another. So if a couple does not want to have a child - there is no prohibition that they couldn't wisely plan. In fact i've been to my fair share of Christian bachelor parties where guys have been given condoms as a gift.

i think it's ok as long as it's in the context of a marriage. Obviously outside of marriage Christians shouldn't be having sex.

Hope that helps,

Nickster

Protestants can use birth control, Roman Catholics are not supposed to. I don't know about the Eastern Orthodox churches.
