You will want to read the instructions on the can very carefully, but food that is covered or in sealed containers should be fine and the residue on your clothes will be minimal. Several years ago we had a bad infestation of fleas that our dog brought home after we kenneled him for our vacation. What finally worked for us is we took both our dogs to our vet to be professionally flea dipped. While they were gone, we put our cats in the garage, covered the fish tank and set off a fogger in every room of our home. When we got home, we aired out the house, flea bathed our cats one at a time (they HATED it), and then brought the dogs home. Then we used a fogger in our car as well. We did this once and then 10 days later did it all again. That was the only way we got rid of the fleas once and for all. It was a little pricey, but did the trick and it was worth it. Also cleaned out every spider in the house, too! Because our fleas did not come from our dogs roaming around, we did not have to treat the yard, but you may have to get something for killing the fleas outside your home as well.

Remove all food from counters and any pets you have indoors should be put outside.
Tell you what though...you're wasting your hard earned cash. I had a problem like this when I had a dog die years ago. The house became infested because (as the vet said) when the host dies, the fleas have to go somewhere.
I tried the store bought bombs and no good at all. I had to have an exterminator come in with the high-powred stuff that's diluted nerve gas. The fleas died almost immediately. The eggs they've laid in your carpet and furniture (yep...they did) will die as soon as they hatch. So spend the $200 or so and get the job done right and once and for all.
Good luck.

If you mean a harts product..stay away from it. Harts kills pets. to battle fleas...first make you pets indoor pets. If they are outdoor pets they will just keep getting fleas. They are also more likely to get all manner of parasites and diseases. Take your pets to a vet to be treated and have the vet recommend what to use in your home. A female flea lays an egg an hour for it's entire adult life. your pet is dropping eggs everywhere it goes and they will hatch. Flea powders and collars do not work and are harmful to your pet. Again, see a vet.

I used that it works good, after you should use the carpet/flea vaccum powder. Leave your home and take animal w/you if inside pet. Just make sure you close closet doors and cabinets, don't leave food out. Leave right when you set them off though, cause they are strong in seconds. Make sure you bathe pet w/flea shampoo also, Good luck!

your food as long as it is covered should be fine. make sure all your dishes are put in cabinets also. anything left out when you bomb will need to be washed. any baby toys should be put in plastic bags, your clothes should be ok in the closet. if you have a fish tank it needs to be covered so no residue can get into it. the chemicals in the bomb can harm or kill your fish. zodiac is also a good brand to use.
