What does it mean to be a patriot in today's America?

Patriotism means the same today as it always has. If you need the word 'modern', you misunderstand Patriotism.

Getting Republicans out the White House shows great patriotism. And supporting the troops....

Not to be a self serving politician in the back pockets of corporations.

Not promise the american people that the economy will get back on track soon when all it does is stumble.

Not join two laws where either the democrats and repulicans cannot agree on and is therefore voted down. Minimum Wage legislation together with tax break for the wealthy.

Sadly, it means the proverbial taking of the flag, wrapping it around your eyes and blindly proceeding to not question the state of affairs in this country.

Here's to the good ol' days when patriotism meant questioning the status quo and working for positive change.

The ability to take up arms and defend the principals that this country was founded on. Too bad you would have to eliminate the past 100 years of laws to get back to that state.
