Hair fall may be due to different reasons which may be anything from the following:
1- HEREDITARY- You are more likely to have hair fall problem if your nearest blood relatives, like your mother or father or your siblings suffer from the same.
2-DANDRUFF- This seems to be the reason in your case. Dandruff causes hair fall to quite an extent. Apart from using an anti dandruff shampoo atleast thrice a week make sure that you use a proper conditioner after hair wash. Firstly detect your dandruff type, - dry or oily. If it's dry type then apply curd around an hour before your hair wash & then proceed. You must also put oil atlest once in 15 days. If its' s oily then use lemon juice concentrate mixed with some drops of coconut oil and use prior to hair wash.
3- EXCESSIVE SWEATING- If you tie your hair too tight or work in a dusty environment then even that might cause your hair to fall. Sweating makes the scalp oily & also more prone to dandruff.
4- LACK OF A PROPER DIET- Lack of a proper balanced diet can also cause hair fall. Make sure your meal intakes include a balanced combination of vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbs, fats, roughage and water.
5- CHANGE IN ENVIRONMENT- A sudden change in drinking water, eating habits like when you suddenly change your city or something can also affect your hair. Your body & hair do take some time to adjust to the new eating habits.
6- YOUR SKIN AND SCALP TYPE- Firstly detect what your skin & scalp type are. If the area around your nose and your scalp seem to be oily then probably you have an oily scalp which is more prone to hair fall problems. Avoid the fried in your food, all the excessive oil in your diet can be seen in your skin and scalp.
If your scalp's dry then never go for a hair wash without applying oil atleast 2-3 hours before taking a head bath.
Never comb or tie wet hair.
7- MISCELLANEOUS REASONS- Even these can be a cause of hair fall :-
Tension
Lack of sleep ( Now proven scientifically.)
Alcohol, drugs, smoking
Use of excessive concentrated chemicals (shampoos etc).Stick to more natural products
Hope this would help you.

Most of the answers are good but one has given you 7 reasons and it adds tension as yet another Reason. Are be be some other reasons but I can think of only one that is not mentioned. "fungus".
I say check all this reason out on your own but do see a doctor.
Find out for sure, if you have fungus or dandruff, doctors can have test done to eliminate fungus. Fungus can spread to other people, and is more serious.

It might just be hereditary, ask your father or your grandfather about this and see if it is. If you dont think it is hereditary, there are many over the counter products that will form new hair growth and treat dandruff.
I hope this helps.

it could be hereditary; some of the men (or women) in both sides of your family could pattern baldness. Or it could be from stress.
