By far the Toyota Yaris.
It is small from the outside, but deceivingly roomy on the inside, where 4 or 5 adults fit comfortably. Its small size means it is dead easy to park in tight spaces too, and it is very easy to drive.
Toyota make remarkable reliable cars, and you therefore get piece of mind and the most enjoyment of your car, as it spends more time with you, and less time at the mechanic.
The yaris has won many super-mini and best car awards, presumably due to the above qualities.
My wife has one, and I researched the cars well before taking the plunge.

I have a Toyota 4runner, so I would say the Yaris, or the Honda b/c they are cheap on gas and you can make them fast!
