Before the Israelites split into two groups after Solomon died. Before that the Levites were responsible. But during the split, the Jews (the tribes of Benjamin and Judah) split off from the Israelites (the other ten tribes, including the tribe of Levi) because the other ten tribes quit worshipping at the temple and the Jews considered that wrong. So Levitism would be an incorrect term for the Jewish religion.

No. Judaism is a religion pertaining to the tribe of Judah. Levitism wouldn't really be a religion because the levites acted as the priests of Israel before the southern tribes were scattered across the earth.

Levites were only responsible for Temple sacrifices; but since the 2nd Temple was destroyed in the year 70 CE, sacrifice has been replaced by prayer. Rabbis, judges, and the Sanhedrin administered the law. You can study Jewish law in the Talmud.

The word "Judaism" comes from the land of Judah. The land was split into two parts -- Israel and Judah. When the Assyrians destroyed Israel, the Jews were dispersed to many other lands, including Judah.

Not really. The Levites were from the TRIBE of Judah, hence the term rendered for their system of beliefs. The Levites were given the sacred duties of the preisthood ordained by God, but the rules applied to all Jews and were not authored by the Levites.

There are12 tribes (or 13 if you count Joseph's 2 sons independently). Jacob's 3rd son, Levi was the father of the Levites. Whilst the priests (Cohen's) come from the Levi tribe, and they did have additional obligations, the other 11 tribes have their fare share too.

~Nah, it would be too hard to change all the words and phrases that now use the prefix "Judeo." Besides, "Levite-Christian" just doesn't have the same ring to it as "Judeo-Christian." "Levite-Christian" sounds too much like a brand name for jeans. Of course, we could change it to "Hebraic-Christian." That has a nice ring to it, don't ya think?

Because also non-Levites have to follow the laws.
