Make popcorn either on the stove or in a hot air popper, and drizzle lots of butter over it, but not completely melted butter...melt it half way and then stir it until it's the same consistency throughout (it'll be thicker and stick better without melting the popcorn). Drizzle a bit at a time while tossing the popcorn around with a spatula. Add salt while doing this if you want.

Orville --can't spell his last name...makes a microwave popcorn similar to the movie theater popcorn, and blockbuster sells a bucket that's close to movie popcorn as well.

Start with a good quality popcorn (Orville Reddenbacher, for example) and pop it on the stove (NOT in the microwave) with coconut oil.

When it's finish, top it with clarified unsalted butter. Won't be exactly the same, but it'll be close. :)

Use an airpopper, or a stove top "back to basics" oil and corn popper. Use a liquid based butter flavored topping, like the theatres have.
