The Army Discharge Review Board (ADRB) will review any discharge, unless it resulted from a general court-martial. If the ADRB decides that the action was improper, it may change the type of discharge, but it may not revoke it and return you to active duty. If you want a review, you must request it within 15 years after the date of your discharge. (See AR 15-180.) The purpose of the review is to determine if the discharge was granted in a proper manner, i.e., in accordance with regulatory procedure in effect at the time, and that it was equitable, i.e., giving consideration to current policy, mitigating facts, and the total record.

you need to prove to the discharge board that an injustice was done by giving you anything other than an honorable discharge. get letters from your supervisor, past and present, the more the better, saying what a super troop you are, or were, letters of appreciation, criminal records from the local law agency, even if you have no criminal record saying such, they want to know what you have been doing with your life since being discharged, schools attended, if you own property, married or divorced and you have a time limit since getting out to do this. your va rep can get you all lthe forms you need to fill out and send in. dont leave any questions unanswered on the forms or they will kick it back or sometimes not even consider your application for upgrade. good luck. hope this helped some

When you get out they will give you a DD Form 214 there will be two pages a long and short form. Then you wait six months then you can contact VA to request it be changed they may or may not it depends on what you did to get other then Honorable most of the time they will change it but you need to wait six months min. Then they will send you a new DD Form 214 with the changes. hope that helps some. I would say contact your local VA office as well they can help too.
