I usually dye my dark brown hair bright red.
This time I want to dye it a VERY dark color. Almost a black, but in the sun, I want red highlights.
Any suggestions?

try a cherry black, or plum black..........this will look black but in the sun it looks almost a burgandy or deep deep red, i've had my hair this color and it looks awesome!!

Good luck

If you dye your hair yourself, look for the loreal preference in shades deepest plum and deepest cherry.

Try a Burgundy brown, it looks black until the sun hits it and then it looks red. I used to dye my hair this color all the time and then my mom and my kids said it made me look washed out so I quit doing it. The best hair color I've found on the market today is Garnier unless you get the dye from a beauty supply and then I use the ion products.

Go 4 a Black Cherry type color 2 dye it. It has both colors, but it just looks dark untill u get in the light. Or dye it dark then later add hilights to it

not to worry. if you have dyed your hair at any time with red in it. the pigmentation of the red stays on much more than any other color. so when u dye your hair dark, like lets say dark brown, the red highlights will show thru. now, if you want stronger red highlights, wait 24 to 48 hours after you dyed it dark brown , and then do home highlights in red. that easy way to do highlights are home is to take a comb. a wide one works better. dip it in the dye mixture and just brush it on the hair. then it will look like more natural highlights.

Go with the dark first; and then highlight with the bright red right under the top layer of your crown and around your face so that when you move, the red shows through. OR...try some fake extentions first to see if you really like it that way.
