We had conscription. During the First World War there were riots and just before the end of the war four Quebecois were killed by Canadian soldiers firing into a crowd. During World War 2 the liberal party, under Mackenzie-King ( a series of stories in and of himself) put it off for as long as possible although they never ruled it out, using the slogan " Not necessarily conscription but conscription if necessary" When they did enact conscription it was a very divisive move that again saw riots in Quebec. Yeah, we had conscription.

Canada did not have conscription in WW2. Our Armed Forces are Voluntary.

1944, fights in Belgium took so many infantry deaths that conscription was began for 1st time in Canada.

no the Canadian army has always been totally voluntary.
