Biology.

Male mammals are geared to be able to reproduce quickly and often. That's why in the wild a lot of them gather harems. It also explains why men are able to get an erection so quickly, and easily. Just a picture of a hot looking woman is enough to get most men interested, or even erect.

Women are geared to carry a baby to term and then to provide long-term care for it. To do this they need a relationship. A picture of a hot man isn't enough to get most women’s interest. They need more they need the relationship. Without it they don't want to mate. Unlike with most mammals humans are able to have sex often and all year around. This makes it easier for the woman to hold a mate's interest.

It's in the genes; a man is able to reproduce quickly and frequently. He is geared to want to spread his genes to as many women as possible. A woman wants to get one man and hold on to them for at least as long as it takes to raise the children.

A man shouldn't cheat. Usually, one good woman is enough to keep a man's interest. He might stray a little and go "window shopping." This is normal and common, it doesn't mean that the woman isn't enough for him; it just means he is listening to his genes, more than his mind.

Every man has the potential to cheat; it's in there genes. Most mean have the ability to control these impulses. If a man cheats then it could be because the relationship doesn't have enough in it for him. It doesn't necessarily mean that the woman is a failure; the man is just as much to blame and often times more.

There are many reasons as to why a man may cheat, whether it is on his girlfriend, wife or partner. However, do all men cheat? Do they all have the ‘dog’ nature?


Wanting to know the answers to these questions, as well as being prompted by hearing a man put women into categories, to justify why he needs more than one woman.


It is safe to say that not all men cheat! But every man has the potential to be a ‘dog’.... “Every no good man was made no good by a no good woman”. Could this be true?

Because men may cheat, it does not mean they do not love the person they are in a relationship with. For most, it is just a ‘sexual thing’. The person a man cheats with may mean nothing to them. It is like they cannot help themselves, or it may depend on how stable the man is, and/or how stable the relationship and commitment is.

Does this then mean that a man who cheats is an unstable man? Well, what we do need to remember is that men are good at detaching their feelings. If a man wants more excitement; feels devalued in the home; or even feels stifled in a relationship he is bound to cheat. He will look for that boost or that breath of fresh air, to be found in another woman. The only commitment that he may have with the other woman is of a physical nature, the emotions and feelings being abstract from the partnership.

On the other hand, some men go into a relationship, not intending to remain faithful. We all know that there are more women in the world then men, but some men use this as an excuse not to remain faithful to their girlfriend, wife or partner. Some men may thing that their wife is like the trophy, and all the other women are like the medals”.

These are examples of categories that men may put women in:

The Wifey = Girlfriend or Wife
The Show Girl = The woman taken places because she looks good
The Dirty Girl = The woman who does what he does not allow the wifey to do

This is a young man’s mentality. More mature men blieved that a woman could be all three, given the occasion. As they say men want a lady in the day, but a freak at night”.

There simply is not one answer as to why men cheat; neither is there a simple solution. If a man is going to cheat just “because he can”, there is not much a woman can do stop him.

I am a woman and i think there are as many women that cheat as there are men that cheat or either the men are cheating with other men.. I work in an office full of women and they are much more vulgar than the men , but the men keep their mouth shut for fear of sexual harassment charges against them// A split tail ( female can get away with almost anything and nothing is said ) They're disgusting and harm the image of real men and women///

Men have a basic survival instinct that makes us spread our seed as wide as we can. But since we aren't animals (all though many women would differ) it's not fair to say we can't help it. Many of us think we're not going to get caught and think it's all right to cheat as long our wife/gf doesn't know it and get hurt. Others are in a bad relationship and find it easier to go look for a another woman than to confront the issues in the relationship. Men (and women) are weak and make mistakes. Still I'm not saying it's OK to cheat..

The reason's can be as complex as self-destructive behavior because they cannot deal with the needs of the other or the demands of the relationship.

Or as simple as they don't know. It just happened.

There is no single reason for all men, or even no single reason for one man. The complexities and dynamics of a relationship are hard to deal with.

In any long term relationship people will fall in and out of love. Love-forever rarely happens. It's not love or lust that makes a relationship last- it tends to be compromise, understanding and friendship.

Mind you love is a large part of any real relationship, but there are as many types of love as degrees of love.

It might be "interesting" for you to read how couples in a swinging relationship discuss sex and cheating. Yes, swingers and even poly-marriage couples (multiple partners) can cheat.

It's the definitions you both share that defines what is acceptable or off limits. For some sex is ok- but no kissing. ? Sounds odd but.. kissing for them is intimate.

For others sex is fun, an activity, but not making love.

As a certain former Pres. said, I did not have sex with her- his definition, perhaps shared with his wife or not.

Does cheating mean not looking or lusting? Which is patently impossible, and unreasonable.

The important think is this, what is acceptable to you, and what do you want to do about it? Defining limits to a realtionship actually helps in the long run.

Look at all the people that have an "acceptable list." "Ok, if Brad Pitt wants you it's ok for a night."

What are your own rules? Do they apply to you as well as him?

I've been married going on three decades, I'm actually much more in love with my wife now then ever before in my life. I also consider her my best friend. Do we still argue, get upset with each other? Of course, but we long ago learned to talk things through.

Would I cheat on her- I don't think so but- until it happens who knows. Has she cheated on me. Yup. But, I also listened to her and moved on. Sex is not making love- a tough lesson to learn.

Having said all this- what should you do, what ever makes you happy. Not him, not revenge, but what makes you happy with yourself. Because bottom line- you have to live in your own skin, so do what's best for you-even if it's forgiving him, or not.

you are asking an endless question there are millions of reasons ppl cheat, not just men, im a man and i would never cheat on someone, but lets see if i can answer this a lil bit for ya

1. my wife/gf is fat
2. she doesnt put out enough
3. she has really let herself go
4. i cant stand her or the kids
5. why am i thinking about my wife when im with this chick right here

seriously there are endless things, it just depends on the couple and their individual situations

Men cheat because sex is not treated as part of the relationship, but more like an activity, like going to the movies or seeing a sports game.

They are not really cheating, in their minds, but tending to their needs.

I knew a guy who was having sex with three different women. They all found out and dumped him, and he was upset as "they weren't supposed to find out."
