I have a bulging disk, I am having injections done. The Dr. says after 3 and if I am still having pain to go ahead and have surgery. I would like to hear other experiences with this.

If you need surgery, ask your doctor about a micro diskectomy. It requires a much smaller incision. And you'll be on your feet much sooner.

Hi, I work for a chiropractor. No, I am not a doctor, but do not get surgery, yet. You have a bulging disc and there are options out there. We have a flex and distraction table at our clinic. It creates a negative pressure in your disc space which over time will suck the disc back into the space. I suggest you call a couple of chiros and inquire about this. Surgery should be your absolute last resort.

Asking such vague a question without giving your age / sex / type of job ETC It is difficult to give you an apt answer .
Any way acute back pain generally comes at an age of 35 + or due to abuse / lifting heavy weights /lack of proper calcium in the body.
Assuming that you are still active in bed ,It is recommended that you take proper advice from a doctor and re confirm the same from another ,only then get operated as medical treatment is costly but worth it if it get s rid of the pain in the long run. You will be back to normal in 2 weeks time.My cousin had this type of pain due to abuse - traveling on bike to and fro on bad roads up to 50km a day for 10 years .Now after the operation he is back to normal and still rides his bike to office and back he is 54 years old.Wishing you all the best

My fiance just had his L3 & L4 disks fused... if only 1 disk they now can do a replacement. The pain he was going threw prior to surgery was terrible... the pain since surgery 1 year ago is quite less. He still has a few bad days but thank god he had the surgery.

I have taken care of patients who have had this surgery. It really does help. Initially, the surgery will probably hurt a lot worse, but a lifetime with chronic pain is no way to live. This is a very common surgery that usually shows good results. My father had it done and is doing great...He is almost 80.

Two of my patients have got spinal surgery in India. One was treated for spondylolistheis by spinal fusion and the other for discectomy of herniated disc. Both of them are very happy with the results.Their pain and other symptoms due to nerve compression have totally gone.

Spinal Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges spine surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as spine surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website.

The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your spine surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.both my patients had gone to India through the forerunners healthcare company.i strongly recommend you to talk to this company, checkout your options with surgery from them.
