my daughter's earring hole got infected i found dried puss all behind her ear and when i cleaned it she has a rash and it looks like the skin behind her ear is raw. i took both earrings out but she has only had them pierced for 3 months. i changed her earring about 2 weeks ago and she didn't say anything about them hurting or itching could it be the earrings or something i need to show the dr. this just happened last night i was going to see how they did today leaving them alone and if it doesn't heal then call the dr. i cant wear some metals in my ears or i will itch.

by the way i changed them becouse she accidently pulled one of her starters out when changing her shirt and we couldn't find it. and when she got them peirced two people did it at the same time couse of her age and the one that is infected got peirced twice couse the lady apparently didn't know what she was doing or didn't pay attention and didn't hit the ink where they marked it but that shouldv'e healed a few days after it was done. i know i will tell everyone who wants to get their ears peirced not to go where i took her i was so mad i couldv'e hurt that lady but my daughter was strong and didn't move a muscle when they did it not even when they redid it

The same thing happened to my mum --
ok... considering that you can't wear certain metals - you probably have a condition called 'contact dermatitis' due to metal allergy.... it IS possible that your child has it too.
Take the child to the doc and get the earrings changed. Some people can only wear pure gold - being the purest form.
ok... another explanation could simply be a ear infection - if the ears were pierced in an unsterile manner, there could be pus and bleeding from the ear. Make sure to remove the earrings.
Another cause could be that she accidentaly scratched the ear and it got infected.. yes, she may not have even realized it or had any pain.
Take out the earrings, and when she gets them refitted you can put a drop ofoil over the hole to keep it open and prevent the bleeding and pussing.. it usually helps. DONT put dettol over it - it'll just close the hole.

From personal experience I have to say that you changed the earrings too soon. If she only got her ears pierced 3 months ago you might want to wait a little longer and not touch them at all. Also my ears were very sensitive to cheaper metals and I had to have quality earrings in when I first got them pierced. I would recommend Neosporine, it does a fabulous job healing. First clean the area with alcohol and then apply. I wouldn't worry too much and give it a few days before going to the doctor. Rashes due to earrings are very common when getting first pierced. Good luck
