I have a life rule... if someone will talk to me about someone behind their back (something they would never have the balls to say to their face), then they will do it to me as well... and I want nothing to do with them.

Do you have some examples here?
Are you talking about politicians? Lovers? Spouses?
Most people ARE pretty consistant (1 faced) - but you need
to understand the context in which they answer a question.
As an example, people love to say that a politician opposes
X because a bill was proposed that specified X and the
politician opposed it. However, "X" may have contained
all kinds of riders that were not acceptable. "X" was OK,
but the baggage that went with it was not.
What's going on?

Well, I don't think that people are okay with it, but there's nothing you can do about it. I mean, almost everyone I know has been two faced. I hate it, too. But, the best thing you can do about it, is call someone out on it. The worst thing to happen to a person who is two faced is to be confronted about it. They hate that. And you can bet that if you hear someone talking bad about someone else, they have probably done it, or will do it to you, too.

People are only two faced if they were always that way, you just didn't see that trait in them before. Being that way is not something one does on impulse.
People are not OK with it, at least I am not, I always call you on it if I notice you being that way, because it is rude and disrespectful. And I do not like to let a person have the satisfaction that they might have got one over on me.
Why do some people let it go? I don't know....Because it shows a weakness in character.

Most people are, dear. And it isn't just at certain times in their life. Best to assume that anything you tell someone *could* be told to someone else. Don't be paranoid, just use that as a general rule of thumb. If you can find one true friend during this life, you are doing good. Have lots of friends, but only one or two confidantes. If someone starts telling me personal information about someone, I always interrupt them and change the subject. Then I make a mental note not to confide in them. You can feel good about yourself, you must be a very good person for this issue to bother you. Bless your heart.

Majority of the people that are two faced are females. this is why most females have male friends. Girls that are two faced have difficulties in there life so they want to make everyone else's life hell too. Jealousy, rage, and competition builds up and this is the outcome. You can't stop it but you can fix it by ignoring it.

Sometimes people w/ low self-esteem put up w/ a friend they know is talking about thm behind thier back because they might not have any other better friends. Then again there are those that wouldn't put up w/ any kind of sh** those people usually have more self-worth. I guess what I am trying to say is that only people who don't have enough self-esteem put up w/ two-faced people.

People are okay with it because people need to be accepted. The worst thing that could happen to anyone is to be isolated. It is even worse than death. To not be a part of a group, people will put up with almost anything. Sad, that most of us primates are so social that we need the spotlight. We are only happy if someone like us.

people's being two faced is very rude indeed. but in certain situation people may be ok with it. for example, if two of ur frnds have trouble with each other and u have to maintain relation with both of them, then u r becoming two-faced, aren't you. yet its ok with u, right?
