I've never actually witnessed any LDS person persecuting a polygamist, so I don't know why. I could assume that it might be that certain members view those practicing polygamy as hurting the Church's reputation, or something else. I am not aware of any persecution involving the LDS Church.

Well, because Mormons are supposed to follow the laws of the land and poligamy was banished and if you practice it today, you will be excommunicated from the LDS Church. That is not persecution, it is ILLEGAL.

To become a state. in all truth. For Utah to become a State in the Union, they had to give up Polygamy. And now, as it is so frowned upon, people associate it with Mormonism, so they want to distance themselves from it, so as not to tarnish their belief system.

Actually, there are some sects of Mormonism that still practice it.

However, you might ask the next one that expresses that hate...so you can find out why.

Grace to you!
