Funny thing, I don't remember the bible saying that the earth and all that is in it was created in only hours. The word translated "day" in Genesis does not necessarily mean a 24 hour period as it does today. What it calls one day could actually refer to hundreds of thousands of years. But hey, God can do anything. He is not limited by time or space.

Okay, a period of time, meaning what? One hour, 24 hours, a month, a year, a thousand years??? So your thought on a period of time is a couple of hours? Fact: the bible was writings of people that lived in that time, when translated to English it was chopped up and translated very poorly. So, for all we know the period of time or day in which you refer to could be a lot longer than what we conceive it to be....It sounds much more powerful to say "a day" than to say a thousand years, don't you think?

Good point. I tend to agree with you.
Of course, if you believe God really is all powerful, then you know he could have created the earth in 7 literal days as well. Another thing the Bible never says is that they were CONSECUTIVE days. So, creation of the earth happened one day 5 billion years ago, God planted life on earth 2 billion years later, etc. etc. But, we have to admit that nobody can say with 100% certainty what happened.

Better question, why is it so hard to believe that an all-powerful being can do a thing like create the world in seven of *His* days? God does not operate on our time but His.

OOOOOKKKKKKKAAAAAAYYYYY!!!???? And your point is? I haven't studied that much about how long a day was in the Bible. Does it really matter? Does it really matter if God created the earth in 6 24-hr days or 6 weeks or 6 yrs?
Go create your own universe and see how long it takes.

A 'period of time' could also indicate thousands of years -- and actually be in support of evolution. I believe that science and religion can (and should) be melded together. Not only would things be a lot more peaceful -- but I think it would make a lot more sense, LOL.

Also, God tells us his time is not like ours. What is years to us, is only the blink of an eye to God. So, it also coincides that the One Day, could have been years and years of our time.
