Teacup yorkies are very small. You need to be very careful walking and stepping back, altough they are quick to move you wouldnt want to step on it.
1. No yorkies do not shed. 2. Not generally but I would leash it to the bag for safety. use a harness not a collar. 3. Not for the most part. They do lay around but about twice a day they have to spaz out and run and play. Its fun to watch and play with them. 4. Yes but I wouldnt put them together. The chow could kill the yorkie by accident just by pouncing and playing. 5. Yes you can leave them in a room. (if with the chow I would crate them) 6. I use a playpen, works great. 7. Who do you have to prove to. If you can love bathe, and clean up your good. 8. most say yes, but yorkies are very smart. I trained my 3 month old in just a week, have to be persistant. 9. yes very. wonderful dogs.

First, there are no such things as teacup yorkies. You can buy a small yorkie, but thats all it is...smaller than the breed standard suggests.

1. Yes they shed.
2. You would have to train it. A puppy does not just instinctively know it can't jump out or off of something.
3. They can be. Depends on the dogs disposition.
4. Probably not well.
5. For a few hours, sure.
6. That would be a good idea.
7. Do more research on the breed. Make a plan for vet costs, food costs etc.
8. Small dogs in general can be more difficult to train.
9. So-so in intelligence.

1. No, they do not shed, but require grooming.
2. If you trained it properly, it would remain in your purse
3. Versus other breeds, yes, they can be quite hyper
4. The question should be will your big Chow tolerate it, or kill it, which is a real threat if your Chow Chow isn't under your umbrella of leadership (most are not without good training)
5. If you want to housebreak a Yorkie puppy, especially the very small ones, you won't want to leave it in a room alone. By they way, they are TERRIBLY difficult to housebreak (I know because I am a professional dog trainer and get many requests for housebreaking this breed, in particular)
6. Get a crate (small plastic travel carrier) instead
7. To whom do you need to prove this? Yourself or someone else?
8. Toy dogs, in general, are far more difficult to train than larger breeds, for many reasons. I can expound if you are interested.
9. How one rates intelligence is critical to answering this question. Do they take commands well? Not as well as many other breeds. Do they submit to authority of people easily? Not as well as many other breeds. Can they learn tricks well? Not as well as many other breeds.
10. You're welcome.

'Teacup' dogs are a made-up term by unscrupulous profit-driven breeders to part uniformed people from their money without concern for the unhealthy, pathetic dogs they bring into the world. Always deal with a reputable breeder, which you can find through www.akc.org - a so-called 'teacup' dog will cost you BIG in vet bills throughout it's sad life - between emergency visits for the dog becoming hypoglycemic from missing just a few meals & breaking fine-boned legs from only jumping off the couch, you could quickly spend a lot!

I would like to know about these as well. You have some of the questions I have. I will check back.I went to the website www.gandstinyyorkies.com & I saw some of the most beautiful teacup yorkies. They range from $800-3,000 depending on the actual mature size you want it to be.

Teacup Yorkies are not bred well and tend to have severe medical problems. They are even capable of breaking legs jumping off of furniture and tend to have severe teeth problems and allergies. All dogs shed and small breeds tend to suffer from separation anxiety and can be yappy when left alone.

FIRST of all, it sounds to me like you should figure out how to SPELL the name of the dog before you think about buying one. It sounds like you're wanting to buy an egg in a cup. (You said "teacup YOKIES"

Second of all, your questions were so open ended that there isn't enough space here to answer them completely. A few of your questions struck me as immature:i.e."will they be ok if they stay in a room" and "If I carried mine in a purse or a basket would he jump out"

C'Mon, girl! Go to the library and research something else for a hobby. Please, I'm begging you: Don't get a dog! At least not until you mature significantly!

Dogs are a LOT of hard work! Sure, they're so cute as pups, but are you willing to potty train one, get up in the middle of the night to let him outside to potty, clean up his accidents, replace the furniture etc. that he chews on when he's teething, pay for all of his vet bills and vaccinations, and to have him neutered, and ON and ON and ON and ON??????

Think about all of this LONG and HARD before you get a dog. I know you just want a cute little dog that you can look cute with carrying around in your purse and one that is just the "cutest little thing" but think about everything else that goes along with this cute little animal.

Oh, and sometimes they get really runny and smelly diarrhea too. Are you REALLY ready to clean THAT up when it soaks into your carpet??

Hope this gave you some things to think about, kiddo!!

Hi there, go to Barnes and Noble and check out their pet section for a book on Toy Yorkies, if one isn't available they can special order one for you at no additional cost. (or you can go to www.bn.com) Good luck! I think that may be my next dog as well, my aunt and uncle have 2 regular yorkies and that is all they will get now. They don't shed too much from what i've seen and they seem pretty intelligent. Have fun researching!

i have never met a teacup Yorkie that wasn't on medication as an adult. the standard Yorkie is only up to 5-7 pounds, so is plenty tiny.

These are going to depend on each animal. They all have their own personalities and things they like and don't like. Your best bet is go to a rescue and they will be able to help with each individual pet and your needs in a pet.
