I would say try a size up or a size down, maybe that is the problem? Guess it depends on if you think it is the amount of pee that is causing the leak. Also since it is a boy try making sure his penis is aimed in a good direction. My son pulls down on the front of his diapers so I have to make sure his penis is pointing down or he pees on his shirts!
I'd try the overnights now if they aren't too big- if they don't work you aren't wasting any money because you can save them until he gets bigger.
Good luck, I know it is no fun changing sheets everyday. Both my kids had to use the overnight diapers too!
On a side note you can buy a cheap plastic table cloth and put that under the sheets if you need a back up mattress pad.

The ONLY diapers that I have EVER found to not leak are the White Cloud brand that Wal-MArt sells. They are amazing. You know that "wet diaper smell" you get after they wet? It isn't there with these. My son and now my daughter both had these. My son would sleep for 6-8 hours at a time with no problems. My daughter sleeps on her stomach sometimes and I only notice a small leak around the front waistband every once in a great while. My son is a very restless sleeper and even with all of the tossing and turning he did, he would stay dry. Give them a try. You can also cut out liquids close to bed time, use a plastic diaper cover and also a matress protector.
Good luck!!

My son has the same problem, well he went through this stage.. he was about a year old, and every single morning when he woke up his sheets would be soaked w/ urine... I kept a plastic mattress cover on his mattress and put the sheets on top of that. I tried all types of different diapers but none of them worked either. My daughter never leaked either. Mabye it is a boy thing... lol. I don't know. I changed my son even in the middle of the night, just so that he wouldn't soak through the diaper, but that still didn't work. It to me was just a stage he went through. He no longer does this & he is 20 months old now. My only recommendation is just to keep experiamenting w/ differnt diapers and invest in a plastic mattress cover.
Have a great day! =) And good luck

Sometimes moving up to the next size can help with leaking. ALso, I'm sure you know this but make sure his penis is pointed down. If all else fails you could try putting a pair of plastic pants on him, like some cloth diaperers use. Good luck.

Yeah, it happend to with my daughter, you have to wait till he grows into the bigger size. What I did in meantime - it is possible to byu like a plastic little underpants, I bought it in Kids'R'Us, it was actually marketed as protection for leaky diapers (so sorry, don't remember the exact name, but ask in store). They are not THAT comfortable I would say, but you can wash them ( you put it over the diaper), it keeps the pj's dry through the night so you don't need to change your son during the night and you're not gonna use them for that long anyways, he'll grow fast. I had three pairs and it was enough.

I have the same problem...and I have had it since my son was 1. I change my son before I go to bed...and use pampers for overnites...Try a size bigger at night as well...try and limit fluids after 6pm. I've tried the huggies overnites...tehy don't work as well as the pampers do.

He really should be in size three by now. If they are too long, roll the top under then fasten.
I always use wetting through as an indicator to go up a size.

I can set my watch to my daughter waking up to wet diapers. We are using the Pampers Baby-dry, which is a total myth. Sorry this isn't really an answer to your question, but thanks for the Huggies tip.

Put the size 3 overnights on him anyway. It can't hurt. You can always cinch it tighter around his waist to make it fit better.
He may also need to drink less liquids near night time. He should be eating at least some solid foods by now, so make his last meal more solid than liquid.
