A repeat pattern like this usually has a real reason. This doesn't sound like the usual experimentation that all kids go through. It could be as innocent as her having gotten attention for it the first couple of times so she keeps trying it over and over (having had your own kids, I'm sure you know that's typical of 3 year olds). It could be as serious as abuse.

I would keep a log of the times you are aware of her making sexual references (including going back and writing down the ones you can remember). If it doesn't stop soon, call CPS (Child Protective Services). Let them be the ones to make the call about whether or not this should be looked into more seriously. You would not want to be the one responsible for overlooking abuse - IF it is indeed happening. Having a log would help the CPS worker to know how long this has been going on and what types of actions the child has done.

Ok, natural curiosity is one thing. I'm assuming you have talked to the girls mother about this too. But it sounds to me as if this 3 yo girl might be experiencing some signs of sexual abuse, or at the very least signs of her mother showing her things that are not appropriate for her age. There is nothing wrong with the little girl, she is only learning this type of behavior from home. Which is very inappropriate.

If after contacting the mom and explaining to her whats going on, and how you think this is innapropriate, then I strongly recommend contacting your local Child Protective Services (CPS). Its not that the girl is bad, its that she is learning these things from her mom which is very inappropriate.

This is clearly a situation in which the child herself has been abused and is displaying promiscuous behavior as a result. You have a moral obligation -- and the daycare has a legal obligation -- to report suspicions to the authorities. It must be investigated. The child could very well be in danger and obviously already needs counseling. This should outweigh any potential other concerns you may have.

Any one working with children are required by law to report suspected abuse.
This certainly falls under that category.
To do the right things is not always easy, but it is always right.
Good luck.

call social services....this childs parent needs help....people like this think its funny or cute when they do this and later regret it when their child becomes a troubled youth
