Since it was wierd to word the question, allow me to expand.

Fact: A human is created when the sperm meets the egg and is allowed to develop for 7-9 months. At which point does the infant recieve it's soul? Is the soul carried in the sperm? Is it already in the egg? Or does the baby get it's soul when it's outside of the mother's body (ie: being born)?

Lastly, how much does the soul weigh (in lbs or kg please)?

These questions should be quite easy since your bible has the answers to everything right? If you can't answer, then your bible isn't the source of all knowledge. Is this something you can deal with?

I would say according to biblical teaching that the sperm carries the soul... hence the laws against masturbation and the reason god would be mad if you were to "spill your seed" on the ground instead of "in the belly of a whore."

The soul can't have any weight as it is not a physical thing.

But just to be clear, i don't believe souls exist. Just answering from the biblical perspective.

The only answer I've ever gotten form those who believe is tha tthe soul enters the body at conception and cannot be measured. So how they "know" it's there is a matter of faith. There is no way to scientifically measure it or examine it. Those who claim that the "aura" that can be photographed under specific conditions and with special equipment is the soul have never answered why it disipates as waste heat when an plant or animal dies. If it is indestructable, then it should go somewhere, not simpley turn from an electro-chemical reaction into waste heat as the organism dies and decays.

Your question is a good one, but does the same thing that religious demands for science "proove" there is no god. It's essentially meaningless as it is a non-science discusion.

The bible is not the source of all knowledge nor should it be, it is a pure collection of human literature of who created the earth and why not how. the how is left for science to deal with.
The soul is an abstract representation of the pure divine nature of human beings therefore it shouldnt be considered as christian or even a religious term in any matter.
This divine nature is generally the human knowledge and acceptance of what is good and what is evil that is relative depending on the time, place ,,,,. thus the soul is not created it is developed and gained and trained thoughout experience and conventions .

well, considering that what makes up a human is the combination of the contents of both the sperm and the egg, i would have to say neither. and i believe a zygote already has a spirit. i believe all miscarried and aborted babies go to heaven, however undeveloped they are.

as far as how much the soul weighs: in simple terms, the soul is the mind, will, and emotions. So just weigh the brain, nerves, and sensory organs that bring the information to the brain.

if you in fact mean the spirit: no one knows, it's been suggested that the spirit is might actually be bigger than the body, and that's why we can't feel people's presence, etc.

Christians have a totally wrong idea of that the 'soul' is. For the Jews of that time... including Jesus... the 'soul' was an enveloping emanation from the godhead that resulted from the community's relationship with god. The soul as a component of a human being (Christian view) is an artifact of Greek thinking on 'dualism'... which was incorporated into Christian dogma and lore by Gentile theologians, who were unaware of Jewish (and Jesus') concept of 'soul'.

Everyone's worries about what happens to their personal 'soul' are of no consequence... it does not exist.

Yes, I am a Christian, and I can deal with it. Can you imagine how big and how boring the Bible would be if it told us how much everything weighed, every single mundane little fact, etc? Plus, it would leave nothing for us to discover and learn, which is part of the fun of living. What was your motive behind this question? Were you hoping to enlighten the Christians? Or just joking? Just curious. You did make me smile, whatever your intentions...

The Bible doesn't have the answers to everything(Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth), but God does. Just in case you're curious, I think God probably infuses the embryo with the soul as soon as sperm meets egg. So it doesn't come from the sperm or egg itself, it's just from God. I am perfecty okay with the fact that we don't have the answers to everything here on Earth, because I know that God has those answers and we will know them when the time is right.

i can see that the intent of your questions is not to gain a better understanding......you're just trying to tear at the validity of the Bible and Christianity.....but still I will answer....

people have souls before they're even conceived.....
Jeremiah 1:4-5
4 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew [a] you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
a. Jeremiah 1:5 Or chose

i'm not even going to start with the weight question...

and no, the Bible does not have answers to everything.....it is not the source of all knowledge.......God did not teach us everything there is to know through the Bible....we, as humans, could not even comprehend everything there is to know.....but God used the Bible to teach us about Him and how we should live our lives.

I see you word a certain question as "your bible" and I see that there are biblical references already cited. You know you can get answers verbally, call 1-888-needhim and ask away! Don't be discouraged, there are mysteries that still evade the knowledge of man...1 Corinthians Chp 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Amen.

The Bible is not the source of all knowledge, God is. But it is guide book to obtaining knowledge and wisdom.

The answer to your question, however, does happen to be in the Bible.

Genesis 2:7 (NIV)
7 the LORD God formed the man [a] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Job 31:15 (NIV)
15 Did not he who made me in the womb make them?
Did not the same one form us both within our mothers?

Psalm 139:13
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.

Isaiah 44:24 (NIV)
"This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself,"

Therefore you err, in thinking only sperm and egg cause a living being to be created, when in fact it is also the work of the Master.
