I have twice received error message: "Spool32 caused an invalid page fault in module (unknown) at 0000:017e12db". Thanks for any help anyone can give me. I'm stumped.

Sounds like the best thing to do is uninstall it. Should be able to do this by booting into safe mode.

To boot into safe mode:
1. Restart your computer.
2. As soon as the power comes on, tap the F8 key (sometimes it's a different key -- you might see which one when the initial brand splash screen comes up. Might say "start menu" or "boot menu").
3. When you get the start up menu select "Safe Mode". This starts windows with a basic set of drivers. Your display will be huge but don't worry about that.

Go into the Control Panel (Start -> Settings ->Control Panel...can't remember the exact path for 98).

Open Add/Remove Programs.

Uninstall McAfee.

Before trying to install again make sure your computer boots up OK without it. Just restart the computer and let it start up as you normally do.

I've seen some viruses disable antivirus software after an install so it could be that there's a virus on your computer. It could also be a version that's not compatible with Windows 98. When you reinstall it, reinstall it in Safe Mode and run a complete scan in Safe Mode.
