It is illegal to solicit i.e. advertise the fact that you receive money for sexual favours. It is legal to visit Lap dancing clubs and strip clubs, but there are varying rules on nudity, some are topless and some are full nude. All have strict no touching rules and lapdancing (i.e. physical contact) is illegal.

Contrary to some of the earlier answers the act of a woman entering into a contract to sell herself for sex is not illegal in the UK. However if two or more women offer to sell themselves within any premises then they are running a brothel which is illegal. The law also makes it an offence for males to solicit sex (Kerb Crawling) or a women to offer herself for sale (Hooking / Soliciting) in a public place.
Licensed lap dancing clubs are not illegal in the UK but beware of so called ' private saunas' which invariably are operated by criminal gangs using illegal immigrants.

Prostitution is NOT ILLEGAL in the UK. soliciting is. If you pick up a prostitute on the street that's kerb crawling which is illegal. Strip and lap dancing clubs are licenced and yes you can visit those.

Yes prostitution is now legal in the UK in several tollerance zones in some major cities such as Manchester. The police direct street prostitutes to these tollerance zones. Although "officially" prostitution is supposed to be illegal, the police have be told to largely ignore it, as long as the woman is in control of the sale of her own body (i.e. she isn't being pimped, or brought in as a slave from another country). Escort Agencies sell some of the most beautiful women for sex, although they have to call it a sensual massage. If you were to pick up a copy of the Manchester Evening News tonight, you will see many adverts from escort agencies and private ads from girls offering sensual massages.
Here are some words to look out for that describe legal prostitution in the U.K.:
Marriage, massage, discreet/private/sensual massage, escort.

It is not legal even thought I believe many MP's use them. Over 18 you can enjoy a night in a pole/strip club.

Prostitution.. selling of sex for money.. is not legal, but appears to be ignored or tollerated insome areas.
Visiting Dancing clubs is legal as long as the bar//club is correctly licenced and adheres to the laws.. like no sexual acts....

The act of prostitution is NOT illegal but there are many crimes surrounding it, eg running brothels, soliciting, etc. I'm pretty sure strip clubs are legal though.

Prostitution is illegal.
Strip clubs or Lap Dance clubs are not illegal, but there are plenty who would like to see them banned.
