it can cause bowel blockage. You didn't tell us his breed or size. You would be safe in using boiled milk for temporary relief,
Bring a cup of milk to a barely boil, allow to cool a bit, and skim off the film on top. discard the film, and feed the milk warm..3 Tablespoons for a tiny dog, up to 1/2 cup for a large dog.

Does your dog have diarrhea? It is better to use Pepto Bismol, my vet says. You give 1/2 teaspoon for every 5 pounds of body weight. I'll check back later to see if you need any more help.

Most vets will tell you via a telephone conversation how much you can administer to your pet. Please be aware that this drug has been known to cause complications in some Collies. There are safer options. You can usually consult your vet for over the counter remedies without having to visit their office for minor issues. Be sure to keep a sharp look out for signs of dehydration.

I wouldn't use any product made for humans on an animal. Check with your vet.

Until recently, human insulin could be used on dogs and cats. They've now put some sort of additive in it so it can't be used on animals.

Not without checking with the vet as to correct dosage for your particular dog. Size matters!
