It is an investment in time.
Some people live a lot longer than 70 years if you count their genes being passed on and the legacies they leave behind.
How can you stop wasting time and start investing in time?
You could buy a watch, or you could realise that measuring time is not the way to give it value.
If there is no intrinsic value in the truth currently, there may be a time value and so a value is attached to time. To say that we are wasting time, as opposed to investing in time, suggests you are not learning anything. Effectively you are brain dead.
If you are learning someting, then it is not wasted time reading this post for example.
What would you do with that extra piece in a jigsaw puzzle? You would find the place for the piece, and add it to the big picture. Surely, that is not wasted time when you can find a reason and a place for everything and an answer to every question!

The earth is not upto 5,000,000,000 years if you start from the time Adam was created to Abraham to David to Jesus to today.
The fact is that you were born at a point and you will die at a point. It is a waste if you refused to be PRODUCTIVE. That is no child, or invention,didnot touch people's lives or you are not a blessing to your generation or you are not a blessing to God's kingdom on earth. Otherwise life is very sweet. Make the best out of it.

Rocks and stones on earth sits there and do nothing for billions of years since the formation of earth. I think that is much more waste of time.
For living being, at least you have 70 years of time to accomplish something that can be meaningful. It is up to the individual to choose whether they want to and how to utilize that small time span. After a being is dead, it becomes a corpose and no difference from a rock, then it will just be "wasting time".

Life is only a waste of time when you waste it. Everything you could possiblely do will eventually come to nothing but that doesn't mean that for a while you can't do the most personally meaningful, importent and impactful things you can think of. You just need to think about what you could do that even if it isn't forever it's still so importent to you and others that your live will not have been wasted and you will be remembered a long long time.

It's not very much, and when you think about it that way, it's a huge reminder of our own mortality and scope in the scheme of things. I do not think life is a waste of time...people have made huge impacts and been remembered in far less than 70 years, and I think the world has been shaped primarily by people who died before the age of 50. Life can be a waste of time, however, if you don't do anything constructive with it....

Well, life is what you make it. I like to think that we should work to ensure the future of our children and learn what we can while we are here. I believe in an afterlife. If you don't, then I can see how it might seem pointless. I hear that Earth is more of a non-reality and the spirit realm is what is real. But I have been reading many many books. Reincarnation and all sorts of things. Very compelling.

It's a small thing but your own. Enjoy it while you can. Then move on and let someone else have their turn.
Of course you could live to be 100, but I bet the last 30 years wouldn't be as much fu as the first thirty.
Always be careful what you wish for.

Life is totally worth living when you:
* live for a greater cause
* live it to the fullest
* love and are loved
* get a higher education (but it's not absolutely required)
* do volunteer work
* have a personal relationship with our Creator
* are aware that you are not the center of the universe
