All these mail programs are basically the same. The only benefit of having Office Outlook is that it syncs well witch the Office suit and has better support for Windows machines. Outlook Express does not have all the added features of Outlook, which can prove very helpful for computer noobs. However, they are all basically the same plus or minus a few features. Windows Live Mail Desktop, I believe, is in testing. Outlook 2003 provides a advanced look, and has fixed a few scripting errors and bugs. But for the most part, it is the same as all the other Outlooks. I haven't seen Outlook 2007, but I hear it will be easy to use with quick-click buttons, and added features.

Office Outlook and Outlook Express (or WLMD) are targeted at different audiences. Office Outlook is intended to be used in corporate environments, where mails are delivered by Exchange Server rather than via pop3 or imap, and where collaboration features such as calendar or contact sharing are a necessity.

Outlook Express/WLMD on the other hand are aimed at the home user who just wants to read and write his/her personal emails, and maybe check the usenet groups (s)he is subscribed to.
