Repair the leak. Keep the bathroom door closed. Cats have a mind of their own and will do what they please, so you must control the environment.

If this a new thing it could be a sign of diabetes. Take him to the vet. If not, try moving the bowl to the bathroom and make sure it is cold water. Also try a drinking bowl that keeps water moving it keeps water fresh longer.

My cat used to do the same thing when she was younger. She'd jump into the tub the minute we turned the shower on. She also liked to drink out of the kitchen faucet.
Now that she's a little older, she only drinks out of the coffee cups that we put in the sink and run water in. She also drinks out of the water dish we keep full at all times.
Good luck with him. He may outgrow it if he's a younger cat. If he's older, it's a habit that he probably won't break.

I usually don't worry about the cats drinking out of my tub and sink faucets. And if I want them to move, I just turn on the water hard- and they'll move! The female cats don't drink out of the tub much any more, but the male is a bit more hard-headed.

try putting ice cubes in the water. Maybe your cat is nuts enough to like cold water. Try getting a rabbit bottle for water. My cat freaks if she seems the bottom of the food bowl. Cats are funny that way

Cats like running water, both to drink and to play in. You can get a water-fountain type water bowl for your cat, that might entertain him and keep him away from the bathtub.

Some cats like running water to drink. I bought my cat one of those Drinking fountains. She loves it. Most of them have water that runs down an incline and water that stands still. She drinks from both areas. She also likes to watch the water ripple down. Most of them have resivoirs so you can put more water in and they also filter the water so it is fresh. I highly recommend one. They go from $10-30 depending on make etc.

Many cat's are drawn to moving water. Get him a moving water dish. It just recirculates the water, som,e have filters but they aren't all that effective, you have to change the water like with a normal dish. But it makes the running water sound and is especially for them. It's an instinct thing, some cats have it...some cats don't care.

Getting rugs to cover the floor near the bathtub so his paws get dried off might help.
My cat does this too, I just learned to live with it.

Cats like fresh, moving water. They sell dishes that keep re-circulating the water - cats love them!
