I was told that air force one carries air to air missles. i do not believe this to be true, but i said i would investigate.
i can comprehend that, given the amount of other on board systems af1 carries, a weapons platform would not be beyond its peramiters. however if it were armed it could be seen as a hostile aircraft if flying in another countries airspace and would be subject to scrutiny. i imagine that if it were armed it would be secret.

If it is armed it is very much a secret for the reasons you mentioned. The truth is that it matters very little because it seldom goes anywhere without a fighter escort as well as high altitude surveillance craft.

Yes, Air Force One is armed. It has an anti-missle system. The Secret Service doesn't really want the public to know though. They haven't made a comment on the document that exposed this fact. It also has a helicopter follow it. In some situations, there is another decoy jet, that way terrorists would be wondering which plane the President would be in. The president's travel routes are never told to the public, making it almost virtually impossible to attack the plane. A release of information exposing his travel route with force Secret Service to cancel the trip. You can't take any chances with our president.The helicopter following the plane could attack if some fighter jet from an enemy country tried to attack Air Force One. The President does the same thing in his motorcade. He has a decoy limo and a helicopter overhead a lot of the time, although not all

Air Force 1 is not armed. Though rumor has it that it has a ballistic missle scrambler. Air force 1 however, is always escorted by some sort of fighter wing.

Air Force 1 is always escorted by 2-4 fighter jets...if you don't call that armed I don't know what is.

Air Force One is probably the more fully equiped, and pretected air plane in the World...
Air Force One is escorted by Jet fighter....and equiped with the better surveillance equipement, and defense ..

if you mean the actual plane, then no because they have jet fighters escorting them so they don't need to have weapons...inside the plane yes because the body gaurds carry a weapon at all times.

they arent actual missles they're beacons, that way the fighter escorts will know they are being attacked, and they signal more fighters to come and help them, but they've never been used
