Limewire IS safe to download music from (from a malicious software point of view not a legal one), Malicious software can only come in so many guises, the following are file extensions that can contain malicious code/software/script
exe, scr, com, vba, vbs, bat, reg to name a few, NO music or image file can be dangerous, although you could get a file called Picture.jpg.exe that has an icon of a picture, now if you have windows set to not display file extensions for known file types you will see Picture.jpg but its STILL an exe, it just has a double file extension.
To sum up: All music/image files (if they are music/image files not just executables that look like them) are 98% safe
Acception: the new WMV Malformed header exploit... Very nasty.

I have been using limewire for 3 years and I have never had any problem downloading any mp3's or mp4's! but with any P2P you have to watch the size of your download, if it a low number, too low for a song something like 1000 kb or something like that it is probably an ad. use some common sense and you will not have any problem using limewire! I highly recommend and use it! if you have any more questions about limewire feel free to contact me, just click on my avatar.

There is no problem with limewire......if its viruses you are worried about every p2p program is going to have something that contains a virus but thats the price you pay for downloading music for free........there is safe way unless you are going to go with a site that makes you pay per song you download.

a lot of people get confused with limewire and viruses. most of the viruses you get come from programs (.exe, .zip). Songs will contain viruses about 0.001% of the time. the reason being is because viruses cannot be .mp3 files or .wmp files. Viruses are also not any where near the size of a song. Songs are roughly 3-5MB, while viruses are anout 180Kb (0.18MB). So when you're looking for songs, don't download it unless it's atleast 2MB.

you are able to no longer acquire song from a internet site. Limewire (and ALL classes like it) supply you links to shoppers who've the songs you opt for for - you acquire from them. because they'd have viruses on their computers, you are able to acquire viruses. in case you are able to confirm you're no longer downloading viruses, use a application like iTunes. then you definately're downloading straight away from iTunes and there is not any risk of viruses. (unfastened = viruses, no viruses = paid. there is not any "unfastened and no viruses" on the menu.)
