Depends what you're going to do with it and what your budget is.
I got mine at Target. 5 megapixels and I paid like $100. It's a name brand, I just forget which one. I'm happy with it.
Totally relative as to what you want out of it.
The higher the megapixel number the larger and better resolution photos you can print. I wouldn't go with anything less than 3, just fyi.

I have a CANON IX US750. It is working nice and the resolution is also very good. I understand the more is the mega pixel the more you will be able to enlarge the photograph with out distortion. If you are happy with postcard size enlargement a 4 mega pixel camera is fine for that. However a rechargeable battery and charger must included with the camera.

I have a Kodak EasyShare C530
I love it! it's so easy to use I also have the printer dock that goes along with it!
I got it from HSN for about 149.00 but it was on sale then!
It's worth every penny too!
if that's too much for you then you should look for a camera with 4 or more mega pixels!
more mega pixels the better quality picture you'll get!

You need to answer a few questions first.
1) What is your budget?
2) What do you like to shoot?
3) What are your photographic goals?
4) What size camera do you want?
5) etc.

Love my canon but its 2 years old now only has 3 mp cost over £200 but they have really come down since.
I would suggest you think carefully about batteries, mine has a special canon battery and when it goes flat it goes really quick it cost me £60 to buy a spare.
Mums has AA batteries you can buy them anywhere and use rechargable ones I think they would be better.

I recently purchased the DSC-w100 Cybershot and I love it. It sells for 300-350.00, it is an 8.1 megapixel and the pictures are crystal clear. The battery life is great, and it is fast, there is barely any lag time from when I hit the button to when the picture is taken. I couldn't be happier with it!

Kodak seems to be the way to go at the moment. My dad got a relatively inexpensive one and my girlfriend has an expensive one and they both take great pictures and the accompanying software is really easy to use. I set my dad up for a one tough transfer and it's practically dummy proof.
